Faction 20501 ×1

Halyangx [1867864]
Two faction merged where the bigger faction gets 50% of the smaller's faction respect. (Vote for 25/50/75%)
  • The bigger faction will acquire all items and funds from the smaller faction's armory.
  • The bigger faction gets the option to select which members to take in from the smaller faction. E.g. Both factions have capacity at 100, and Bigger Faction A have 70 members, and Smaller Faction B have 50 members. When the two merge, Faction A gets to pick 30 members from Faction B.
  • Same as above applies for territories.

EDITED: realised that the maths doesn't add up and could be easily exploitable :(

FURTHER ADDED:

Maybe there should be a respect limit where factions can merge.

After doing some maths, yes, using new factions to merge makes this function exploitable. However, if only, for e.g., let's say factions above 500k respect can merge, the small faction which was created from 5k will still have to chain up to 500k, and when they do finally decide to merge, the bigger faction only gains 250k respect.

Nex pointed out "creating a f**kload of starter 5k respect factions just to "buy" and merge them for some quick respect infusions".

-Totally agree, thus solution: limit where factions can merge. Currently set to 500k and above.

ISHAAN pointed out "reduce the competitive nature of this game to a very large extent. People wouldn't want to do chains and wars as they can get that respect by just paying a faction to merge with them"

-Counter arguement: Chains will still happen in smaller/ newly created factions and they would be chaining hard so that one day, they could sell their faction for a merger, which frees up members in big factions and let them focus on wars and all other activities. Also, easy to say, let's buy a faction for respect gains, but if demand exceeds supply, the mergers won't come cheap.

"lets merge and damage the weaker faction which we will use to train up new members to hopefully get stronger and eventually join the main one"

terrible idea and just ruins the effort members put into the lower respect faction
Halyangx [1867864]
Or

Let's merge and make the bigger faction stronger. Run two factions and combine them one day when you can't run the smaller faction anymore.

By merging, the efforts put into the lower respect faction got transferred to the bigger faction.

FYI, the weaker faction doesn't get damaged, it gets destroyed/ doesn't exist anymore after the merge.

There’s been some stupid threads created lately but this one is seriously next level

dont even know where to start with this

What’s wrong with selling both factions and buying a higher respect faction instead of literally trashing hard earned respect

You will prob know this faction: https://www.torn.com/factions.php?step=profile&ID=20501#/

Some factions may have used respect on unlocking a lab, holding multiple territories, etc.. and these upgrades cannot be reset. Thus, unless you can find a buyer who wants a lab, they become hard to sell, unless you are offering a significant discount.

However, if you can merge the two factions, and if it's worth it more than what you can get by selling your smaller faction, why not right?

Also, if you are the bigger faction and you want quick respect gains, and you have money, buy a small faction and merge and expand your respect.

I already can see big factions buying other factions to feed on, your idea looks like is one, but the result will be a disaster.
Not that hard to find out...
Halyangx [1867864]
That's one yes, and if you are in a smaller faction and can afford to buy a bigger faction, you buy it, and move your members, items, territories and your respect gains.

And you don't see the inherent problem of factions just buying up hundreds of dead/semi-dead factions and boosting their respect + HoF ranking from this? Or even creating a f**kload of starter 5k respect factions just to "buy" and merge them for some quick respect infusions comparable to a 10k chain hit each?

We want more balance in Torn, not less. This suggestion would mean you could just buy respect for Torn $.

Two faction merged where the bigger faction gets 50% of the smaller's faction respect.

No that would be bad that means you can buy easy respect. Just buy new fc for with 5k respect marge with main and get 2,5k respect that means 2,5k respect cost really cheap. Or buy 200k fc (cost about 2b) marge it and get 100k respect (sold 100k respect for 1b [here will be buyers if this thing would work]) and get 100k respect for 1b so if you put 10b you can up fc respect for 1m and it are cheaper that you would spend on chains and much more faster and don`t require any effort.
Halyangx [1867864]
Yeah, now that I think about those starter 5k faction which can be created for 7m ish, the respect gains you get from combining should be way too low and insignicant.

Just because you make a decision and make something less marketable doesn't mean you should be given an easy out.

Permeant upgrades should be done with serious consideration.
