Is there any possible way to get territory as a 16k respect faction? It seems like even the most basic of territories in sector 7 are taken by these much bigger factions. Am I missing something or should I not waste my respect on territory holding?

To get a territory if there's no open spots in S7 then you either assault one and if you win you take it, if you're good at diplomacy and/or have deep pockets you can make a deal with another faction to claim one. Note that in order to claim your first territory you have to have Territory I unlocked in your core branch. This guide by Vladar is very comprehensive and does a great job at explaining all about managing territories.

Well I know how to manage and unlock them, I just don't see how a weaker faction could ever hope to hold one of them. Seems like a waste of RP for something that wont get you any gains.

You gain passive respect for holding it, and the possibility of a racket to fall on you. That said, if a racket were to fall on you, you'd definitely get assaulted pretty much immediately lol.

Territories can be pretty rough, especially for small factions. If you think you can take one, go for it! If not, it might be better to try to grow a little first.

Concentrate on chaining for respect at that level. Even if you got one territory, would be hard to hold onto. Everyone is always looking for territories. If you aren’t confident at taking one, then defending will also be a challenge.

Best bet is to open chaining to 50/100/250 and to chain weekly. When your bigger and stronger, then look to territory
