I don't think it's fair to say the app is useless. Especially the newest version (if you're on the beta, sign up for it on Googleplay!).
It's very useful for push notifications, widget and single touch sign in, and also a great way for casual players to be introduced to Torn, it will be primarily optimized for Torn of course and you'll find it a faster experience.
Would I recommend it over using a browser? No probably not, but I'd certainly not dismiss it without trying it as on the same vein I wouldn't recommend a browser over the app, use what you feel is best for you! We ensure to design Torn so it can function well any way you chose to use it and want to give people those options. Would I recommend having the app alongside a mobile browser though? Yeah of course, if only for the notifications!
The torn app is basically a browser. It performs the same browser checks each time it's used as chrome/Firefox/whatever would do prior to using it along with whatever captcha blocks an internet browser would require.
It performs the same functions my browser does without providing any additional benefit to having the app
Its not useless as such, however, it provides no extra use (Ched, bogie pls don't nerf mobile browser experience)
My one concession would be notifications of cooldown expiry, but clock has existed since Nokia brick to remind me
You don't stalk people or hunt certain item in item market using phone browser, silly Can use yandex but yandex won't load as fast as torn phone app. Recommended for ppl with potato phone nnshit internet connection who wants to snipe certain item at bargain price. The refresh button placement just perfect!
I'm not sure what's expected. The app delivers a full torn experience (minus buying dps), and has some added features that you can't get on browser without using scripts.
Are you suggesting that the app should give some sort of advantage over browser play?
I tired kiwi. I dont really like the browser. I like Chrome. I use to use Firefox for scripts. So I would use it to look in the city or quick check spys we have on people. But Firefox said f**k you so that's over.
I'm suggesting some scripts that are accepted as 'standard' such as doctorn are compatable with mobile use. Given the average internet user is running an Android like OS on a mobile browser on H+/3G it's not an unreasonable GD gripe
(I hope by the way most users accept I'm just throwing shit to the wind and in no way do I expect for any of this to ever get actioned)
90% of my activity is done using the app. TornPDA has a wider range of features though and incorporates data from yata. It also has enhancements similar to popular browser scripts.
