· 60 likes · Addiction mitigation sounds like shit. Try improving the addiction system so older players aren't punished with bullshittingly high rehab bills. I will not be putting a single merit into employee effectiveness either. My merits are for my personal gain, not …

· 50 likes · Anyone please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong here, here is my preliminary analysis: [image: i.imgur.com] - Addiction doesn't start impacting your battlestats until you see the ol' brain icon; so it's my understanding this merit branch will …
Today we've created a new modifier called 'Addiction Mitigation', this reduces the negative effects of addiction on everything: Passive battle stat modifiers, Employee effectiveness, and Gym & Education access. The faction tree special Side Effects now increases Addiction Mitigation by up to 30%, and a new merit upgrade can also increase it by a further 20%.
We've also added a new merit upgrade for Employee Effectiveness, which provides a minor bonus for the company you work for. The yearly free merit reset will be provided to everyone shortly.
These 2 modifiers coupled together could be really powerful for boosting a company's income.
Directors: Do you plan to pay employees more who have merits in addiction mitigation and/or employee effectiveness?
Employees: Do you plan to put merits into effectiveness? Why or why not?
Keen to see what people do with these, we'll be crediting the promised free merit reset later today we expect.
Free merit reset will be tomorrow at some point, sorry! Downtime and the delay with the company tick hampered it a bit there, we want to ensure all is operating smoothly before people spend their reset.
Will be interesting to see how these report on the employee efficiency percentages? How will a Director actually know that his employee has 10/10 in the JOB merit?
I personally will leave the employee effectiveness - o feel this may be better for lower stat players to get a job in a company but will be fairly obsolete for high stat players - I’m sure the folk at JTS will let us know
At the moment if you are not in a faction with Side Effects special you will be kicked from education / glass door at the gym at a higher brain icon (even though it takes less drugs to get there with Toleration) because the passive debuff represented by this icon is reduced by the special. E.g. outside a faction this addiction level might be represented by an 8% brain, but with the special this is reduced to 6%.
edit: Ched did allow us to clarify the below
I would imagine this is now gone further, people with this merit branch and faction special are probably looking at a 4-5% brain icon for being kicked from education.
I know Ched mentioned Gym/Education access in the announcement but I'm not really clear on that part because it does currently work as I said above - i.e. the access requirements are not currently adjusted when you have that special so that you're kicked at the same brain icon level.
Actually everyone will now be kicked from education/gym at the same brain icon. If you have any addiction mitigation, this special will also increase the threshold for these kicks.
As I understand it, it's % of addiction already there, not % of addiction flat out - so if you usually rehab at 4%, you can go to (4% x 1.2) = 5% addiction before rehabbing, with that branch maxed
