Cdc says flu is lax this year because
Everybody is wearing masks and social distancing.

CDC says Covid-19 is rampant because people aren't wearing masks and social distancing.

Ok so what is it

and therein lies the issue. its more about narrative than addressing the pandemic. its more about labeling some people as the enemy while others pretend to be saviors.

fact is, you cant have it both ways. unless you live in america where narrative outweighs everything else.

Its almost like they are two different viruses with different infectivity rates, lol.

And its almost like different classes of people are taking this differently.

For example, since a lot of the old people are taking it seriously, their flu rates are down. But since a lot of middle aged white men are having mental crisis' about wearing a mask, covid is also soaring.

You may think its narrative, or fake, like good ol trumpy boy. But 350000 deaths and over 20 million infections in the US says people who are melting from not being able to go to church, or their favorite football game are also the ones that are causing this to go f**king on.

YOU CANT HAVE IT BOTH WAYS. lol.

but thats what narrative nancy's do isnt it?

trust the science!! unless you dont like it ....

literally none of the decisions ive made or will make regarding the pandemic have anything to do with trump or the GOP. that just something you tell yourself to justify your lack of comprehension and willingness to listen and contemplate opposing opinions. in short, because you are a bitch ass sheep.

Not sure what you mean by "having it both ways", but there is substantial evidence that the prevalence of the flu has been impacted significantly by COVID preventative measures. Take for instance how the southern hemisphere was fairing back in September.

A huge factor is the fact that a large portion of school districts are using distance learning which has helped minimize transmission through children. Couple that with higher vaccination rates, and the 90% drop in flu cases so far this year isn't surprising. Another thing to consider is the time from infection to the onset of symptoms. The flu typical shows symptoms around 2-4 days after infection and people are probably taking more precautions in isolating due to the similarities to COVID.

Now as far as COVID spreading, it's probably a combination of a variety of factors. I would suspect that the latency period between infection and onset of symptoms is the biggest culprit as this allows folks to spread the virus while being asymptomatic. This in conjunction with the fact that folks aren't the best at wearing masks in a private setting allows for the continued spread that we are currently seeing.

How many people do wear masks usually, during the winter? Aside Asians, probably no one. Right? So, why are you confused by the fact that due to masks being used with covid the normal flu is less contagious?

Could it be because there are masks, whilst usually there are none? Oh my god, such a controversial argument right?

The big issue with that is people think that the flu and the coronavirus has the same infection rate. Also they think it has the same death rate . Which is not so.

Also another big problem is people generally do not think enough about a subject or issue and they stop where they want to.

There is so much more in play than just the mask or no mask. First off there was more of a push for a flu vaccine and it seems more people got them. Also they may have been more effective where the strains they were expecting were the ones that happened. So if the flu shot is more effective that is a factor in it.

Then you have a lot less travel especially international so you are not getting as many different strains or mutations and no where near the concentrations of them than you usually would. Pair that with more online sales than in store sales. Especially at Christmas time where the flu spreads a lot. (I got the flu once for Christmas a few years ago. It was not a good Christmas gift.)

Then also I did not look into this but what would be needed in this discussion is a show of where the flu is hitting more and where the coronavirus is hitting more, and if those areas are more likely or not to wear a mask. I tried to look to find where the flu is hitting more this flu season but could not find it.

It's probably not that simple to be honest. Looking at a lot of variables from children staying home from school (reduces transmission vectors), an increase in flu vaccinations, and COVID preventative practices (social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing, etc).

It does not really matter, all the other ones are just extra things to reinforce it. Obviously wearing masks can have an effect, and the fact that other factors might play a role does not change that fact.
