MOST OF THE INFO HERE IS OUTDATED, on a laptop you can just copy paste the photos in the forums nowadays ;)
WILL UPDATE THIS TOPIC WHEN I GET THE CHANCE.

With all the competitions going on lately I have noticed a lot of people not knowing how to post their entries and videos as an embed.

First, to embed a (YouTube video, photo, etc) means to add the content directly to your post and to make it playable from there, without needing to use links that take people to YouTube/photo/GIF/content

YouTube embed

The steps are fairly easy:
1) In a new tab, go to the video you wish to embed from YouTube. (Example: How to embed for dummies)
2) Copy the video code (the last string of characters in the video link) - in this case - ZsweM9M4JS8

3) In your post/profile, write
[image: i.imgur.com],in this case [image: i.imgur.com]
4) Post and enjoy

Clickable link-photo

If you want your photo to be clickable and open a new page of your choice, you can simply copy and paste the following code and change the link and photo link from it to what you choose.
Use the below code to achieve this:

Photo and GIF embed

The steps are easy as well, you just need a photo-hosting site to keep your content online.
I use imgur but there are others out there.

The steps:
1)Have the desired photo or GIF ready
2)Open imgur.com and log in to your account (or make one if you don't already have it)
3)Drag and drop the file on Imgur (Alternately you can press the New Post button)

4)After it has been uploaded, you can click on the photo and copy the BBCode (the one containing [img] in the link).

5)Paste it in your post and enjoy!

Create or edit GIFs

GIF stands for Graphics Interchange Format – in social media, GIFs are small animations and video footage.
A GIF is a series of photos that loop and creates a moving animation.

1) To create a GIF from scratch, you either need a short movie or a series of static photographs to stitch and create the animation.
Once you have it, I use an online GIF creator/editor that I found easy to use and fast - ezgif.
When are on ezgif, you have an intuitive menu to use as seen below.

If you have the photos and you want to make a GIF, just press on GIF Maker and add your photos
If you have a video that you want to turn into a GIF, just press on Video to GIF and add your video.
If you made your GIF or want to edit an existing one, the rest of the menu is pretty intuitive and has a whole variety of things you can do for your GIF, from resizing and adding text or effects, to optimizing.
