Animals "torturing" each other is merely instinct. They don't do it because it makes them laugh, or because the other animal is a different color. As for humans being animals, that is a matter of opinion. If you are like me and believe humans are a higher race, you will agree. If you don't, well... I'm not going to force my opinions on you.

Horrifying to us, but since those behaviors are necessary for their survival, they don't count. Animals lack the higher brain functonings we humans have so can't form concepts such as torture methods of species or sexualities they don't like.

You're also confused on what projecting even is. It would be projecting if I did attach human concepts to animals such as them knowing and acting on hatred but I don't. Its the opposite. Animals don't act on certain things like humans do. I've yet to see evidence of, say, a giraffe proclaiming they are the best species because of their height whilst starting a race war with all zebras or whatever. If you can show us proof of animal behavior along that vein outside of typical predatory instinct, then we all can believe you. If not, good bye.
