So I get asked a lot about how to win at high low.

Here's how you do it.

High Low operates on a simple rule set. These are:

- If the win/loss ratio is below 0.9700, check #of games, and every 2,500 games, increase modifier by 1%
- If the win/loss ratio is above 1.0000, check #of games, and every 2,500 games, decrease modifier by 1%

The modifier can range between 20% and 35%. It will not go higher or lower than this, based on the above 2 rules.

If the ratio is between 0.9700 and 1.0000, the modifier will not change.

To check the # of games played, you can watch for an xhr (XML HTTP Response) generated by the game after each turn. This xhr is generated from the following URL, which you can find on the network tab in a modern browser (hit F12, go to 'Network', and find this response in the list)

{"status":"gameStarted","currentGame":[{"dealerCard":"8","playerCard":2,"lastDealerCard":"8","lastPlayerCard":2,"move":1,"result":"Incorrect","potToAdd":null,"step":"dealerMove","currentPot":"1000000","actualResult":"low","lastChoice":"high","potUpdatedTo":"0","winsInRow":"0","lastDealerCardInfo":{"fullName":"ThreeofClubs","name":"Three","classCode":"clubs-3","nameShort":"3"},"lastPlayerCardInfo":{"fullName":"TwoofDiamonds","name":"Two","classCode":"diamonds-2","nameShort":"2"},"dealerCardInfo":{"fullName":"ThreeofClubs","name":"Three","classCode":"clubs-3","nameShort":"3"},"playerCardInfo":{"fullName":"TwoofDiamonds","name":"Two","classCode":"diamonds-2","nameShort":"2"}}],"currentLayoutType":"beach","user":{"money":418347426,"slotturns":"19"},"DB":{"deckShuffled":true,"formulaStats":[{"ID":"1","currentRatio":"20","previousRatio":"20","moneyWon":"6438549707045","moneyLost":"6477938495310","gamesAmount":"1381"}],"availableStakes":[10,100,1000,10000,100000,1000000,10000000]},"rfcv":"6018a974d5e57","isAjaxRequest":true}

The key that is important, is the DB Key:

"DB":{"deckShuffled":true,"formulaStats":[{"ID":"1","currentRatio":"20","previousRatio":"20","moneyWon":"6438549707045","moneyLost":"6477938495310","gamesAmount":"1381"}]

As mentioned, whenever 'gamesAmount' hits 2500, the game checks the value of (moneyWon / moneyLost), and if it is below 0.9700 or above 1.0000, the modifier will change.

Now, on to the original question - how do you make money from this knowledge?

There’s a couple of things that are important.
  • The modifier – at 29% or below, the casino has the edge over the player. The lower the modifier, the worse it is for the player. At 30%, the game is exactly fair between the casino and player – i.e. You should win the exact same amount as you lose if you play thousands of games. At 31% or above, the player has the edge over the casino – i.e. You should always win more than you lose if you play thousands and thousands of games. As this goes up, the potential amount you can win goes up significantly.
    a. At 31% on a $10mbet, the maximum potential win is (1.31 ^25 = 8.546b)
    b. At 33% on a $10mbet, the maximum potential win is (1.33 ^25 = 12.482b)
    c. At 35% on a $10mbet, the maximum potential win is (1.35 ^23 = 18.127b)
  • Long streaks are the key to winning large – Because the modifier is a cumulative multiplier, every time you win, you get an exponential increase to the amount won.
  • Statistically, it takes approx. 700 games to hit a 25-streak in High Low, which means that you need to spend on average 7b at $10m per bet in order to hit a 25-streak. The chance of winning each hand is approximately 76.9%. Remember, that this is only the very centre of the bell curve. It could take you only 1 game to hit a 25-streak, but it could also take you 5000.
  • You need to manipulate the win/loss ratio to ensure the modifier goes up at that key marker of 2500 games played, and you need to make sure you play as many games as possible in between those key markers of 2500 games to ensure maximum play time at the highest possible multiplier.
  • The moneyWon values only change once a player ‘cashes in’ a win. It does not update per move. This is important when I talk about the strategy below.
  • You need lots and lots and lots of casino tokens. This is why you saw many of us working in Cruise Line companies, because each job point can be traded for 25 casino tokens. This would give you 250 extra per day, so 400 per day total.
So now you know these things, what do you do?

The key is the win/loss ratio. With the modifier at 20% currently, any player that plays will be losing money, so the win/loss ratio will be going down. Once it goes below 0.9700, it will start to go up by 1% every 2500 games played. We call this the ‘swing’.

Now, there are a couple of things you can do to manipulate this swing. You can either dump some money into the moneyLost value, so the ratio falls faster below 0.9700 and triggers the swing. You can also dump in tokens by playing $1 or $10 games, so that the gamesAmount ticks over faster. Because we were often trying to trigger this swing as quickly as possible without people noticing, we would employ both tactics to get the ratio to start moving upwards towards that magical >30% as fast as possible.

Once the modifier gets above 30%, regular people playing will start to cause the win/loss ratio to start going upwards again, so sometimes we would have to continue deliberately losing money and spending tokens to get the modifier to head to 33, 34, or 35. With the ratio at 31 or 32, it was barely profitable enough to be worth the risk, and so we would at minimum want to hit 33%.

This is where it would get interesting. At 33%, standard players would start winning more and more, and the chances of the win/loss ratio getting above 0.9700 and freezing the multiplier got higher and higher. So a group of us would start playing $10m games, and trying to hit a 25 streak. The key was that IF you managed to get a 25 streak, you would hold it and not cash it in. Remember the important point earlier that moneyWon doesn’t update until the player hits cash in? Not only that, but the game remembers the current state across the daily reset, meaning there was no need to cash the streaks in. You could hold them indefinitely. This would keep the win/loss ratio below 0.9700, allowing others to keep doing the same, keep ticking ‘gamesAmount’ over, and keep the modifier moving upwards.

Consider, if a group of 10 people are all sitting there dumping $10m per token into the game, trying for the 25 streak, and they all stop once they hit that 25-streak, then it’s likely that the moneyLost value goes down by ~70b or so, and the gamesAmount rolls around to 2500 multiple times. Up until recently, there was no way that the moneyWon value would be going UP by more than 70b during this short window, and so this strategy ensured we got the multiplier up to 35%.

Once the multiplier hits 35%, no more holding needs to happen, everyone can cash in their streaks (if they were lucky enough to be holding one), and frantic play begins.

Everyone plays as fast as possible to churn through and hit as many 25-streaks as possible. At this point in time, the win/loss ratio moves VERY quickly back from 0.9700 towards 1.000 and past it. However, the frantic play can continue, because remember, the modifier only changes after every 2500 games played. The modifier could drop to 34%, then to 33%, and then even to 32%, and you can keep playing and making plenty of money.

What normally happens is that during these 5000-7500 additional games after the win/loss ratio hits 1.000 (35 -> 34 = 2500, 34 -> 33 = 2500, 33 -> 32 = 2500), you would see players hit many additional 25 streaks, and the win/loss ratio would often end up somewhere near 1.050.

If you take the currently moneyLost value of $6,477,938,495,310 and take 8% of this (0.9700 to 1.050), then the next High Low swing could potentially provide over 500b of winnings back to the players.

So there you have it. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I tried not to make this too lengthy but there’s a lot of stuff to explain, so I apologize if you’ve gotten this far and your head is spinning with the numbers.

Cheers,
Nash.

Here's a link to a spreadsheet with a whole lot of calculations in it. Feel free to copy/paste and reverse engineer it.

The only field you need to modify is J9, the 'Modifier' field. If the sheet gets destroyed by someone I'll make another copy of it and re-publish as read-only.

Intriguing!

I feel bad for you because you could have earned the $500 bug bounty on high low if you looked a bit harder
