Andyman reported a person looting with 0 hits and 0 damage done. They joined the fight 3 times and used pepperspray 3x

Now another played doing very low damage/hits has looted a nock gun and concussion grenade in less than 5 minutes.

Either Angelkisses is the luckiest person ever, or there is something weird going on with the NPC loot system.

They also looted an MG3 not that long ago, but you only technically need 1 damage/hit to qualify for loot, just extreme luck it seems unless the devs did make changes recently.

While it's entirely possible for situations like these to occur (and this is subject to a large confirmation bias when the same player gets loot twice in a short time frame ) it does seem to be a recurring situation.

I'm also perplexed by quotes like "those who put more effort in or did more damage will be likely to receive loot" which doesn't pan out when Z_junior does +97% of the damage/hits on multiple level III Jimmy loot raids and doesn't get loot.

and "how many hits you landed with damaging hit = higher chance" when you're talking one guy who uses Pepperspray to "hit" the opponent and ends up with loot. (zero damage)

The loot lottery remains a mystery, but I don't see evidence that it's as simple as "one lottery ticket per hit" or anything that follows a linear distribution pattern.

Damaging hit will give a ticket, however it will give more chances (twice more in comparison to hit with no damage). Temps are also counted as a hit. It's just a pure random based on overall score of each participant.

As Pavel says, there isn't an issue here - plus if one single person was always getting 97% of the loot then you wouldn't end up with anyone else bothering to join the fight!

It shouldn't come as a surprise when someone manages to loot items when they're using numerous temps over numerous fights, making numerous hits.

I'm admittedly fishing here; so don't feel inclined to respond to this, but are loot lottery tickets intended to be allocated on a per hit basis, or just based on the fact that at least a single hit was made? ie. 25 non-damaging hits = 25 tickets whereas 25 damaging hits = 50 tickets. (twice more in comparison to a zero-damage hit) Or is it intended to simply be something like, "the player made at least one damaging hit in the 10 minute time period before the NPC was hosp'd, and therefore gets the maximum possible of 2 tickets for doing so?"

Ched's initial NPC announcement makes it seem like damage and effort (effort is what the community commonly interprets as hits) are directly correlated to loot chance.

It's my understanding player strength is arbitrarily capped to around the ~100b effective strength mark in NPC attacks. (which makes sense from a balancing standpoint) If there was also some kind of arbitrary cap on the # of loot lottery tickets a player can gain during an NPC attack (ie. You get 10 lottery tickets for your first hit, 8 lottery tickets for your 5th hit, 4 lottery tickets for your 10th hit, 1 lottery ticket for your 18th hit, and 0 tickets thereafter) it would likely impact how certain players proceed with NPC attacks, specifically with rejoining.

Technically, if you are doing more damage, you end the fight faster, thus denying others the opportunity to gain tickets, which increases your chances of getting loot. Also, if you do more attacks, you get more tickets, thus improving your chances at more loot.

From my experience (i join almost every NPC fight) i've noticed that total hits/damage doesn't really mean anything, i use to join duke 2-3 times per fight, leslie 2 times per fight and jimmy once (twice before his health nerf) and since i stopped multiple joins each fight my looting rate doesn't appear to be affected all that much (i've barely noticed much difference)

edit: I do 24/25 hits per join
