So I’m a new player, already become a donator, and have played other games like this in the past. The big issue I noticed right away on this game is that there is no real banking system.. Who would think it would make sense to not be able to safely store money without investing it for a period of time. If you have the banking system already, why make it run in such a non-sensible and non-realistic way. BANKS ALWAYS STORE YOUR MONEY. Just don’t know who thought making banks not being able to store your money was a good idea.

Because mugging is a huge part of the game. If you had the banking like you said it would be too easy to protect your money and mugging would die out

That's my guess

You can "bank" your money several ways

a) city bank gains interest after 1 week, 2 weeks, ...
b) faction vault, provided you trust faction leaders... need to have faction leaders online to withdraw
c) buy (high volatility) items (or stocks) and sell when you need the money
d) points
e) property vault

and for something more immediate (something less than 6 hours)
f) use trades with a friend (usually called "ghost trades")

Palace, Castle, and Private Island can have vault.
It's all in the wiki ... wiki.

Note that you do not have access to the vault of a rented property; you must own, and live in, the property to use the vault.

Technically, if your spouse owns the property and enables vault sharing, you also have vault access. This would, of course, require you to convince your spouse that enabling that is a good idea... not many people will in a game where scamming is legal.

EDIT: also, forget about realism in this game. A lot of things are not realistic at all.
