Okay, so i thought of something. What if there was another MMORPG game like Torn (Let's say Rain city ), and then both cities go to war. Like a grand war amongst cities. Torn city will hold tournaments to select its champions, while Rain city does theirs. Both parties gearing up for the grande finale.
Then we could make this like an annual event. I dunno about anyone else, but i would look forward to speculating even though i cant participate with my shit stats. Maybe, there could be champions from different stat ranges. How does it sound?
I would point out that the GD forum is the last place in the world you're likely to get positive feedback and/or constructive criticism. The suggestions forum is probably more likely to get you a reasonable response as to why this wouldn't work and/or is a bad/unrealistic idea.
For my part I would say that if you're talking about having a cross game competitive event you'd need the infrastructure to support it, and as it stands torn barely has the infrastructure to support itself when big event days roll around. That's not to mention the logistics of coordinating development between two separate companies, deciding on design decisions re interfaces, and also the fact that the combat systems would basically have to be identical.
Torn is a city full of criminals and no cops. Imagine if you will, that Torn has a sister city full of cops and no criminals and players from the two cities could upload a copy of their character onto a dedicated tournament server to battle the other citizens. Why would anyone do this? No one knows....
Why would anyone even play in the other city full of cops with no purpose? I have thought about torn adding police factions to have epic territory battles with the criminal factions, which would add all sorts of new elements like corrupt cops, under the table deals, snitches, traitors, etc but I suspect this would be impossible to implement as it's too radical a departure from what torn has been for nearly two decades.
