I’m getting this message and wanted to know the maximum number of items I can have and what exactly happens when I get to this number.

You have 28,414 items in your inventory. We recommend you reduce the number of items in your inventory by selling them or moving them into a Bazaar or Display Case. If your inventory continues to expand your transactions may be restricted.

Max is 100k. But you can read Ched’s announcement about this a few months ago here.

The maximum is 100,000 items, after which you'll be won't be able to get any more items.

IIRC any inventory over 25k will get this soft warning, but the actual limit is 100k.

Just stick 10k items in your display case if the warning still bugs you
