What happened to these?? I was all pumped to get a new ps5 and i haven't seen or heard anything about it since it came out? Same with the new XBOX.... Does anyone have either of these? Why did all the big hype die so sudden??

I'dd assume the hype died due to the manufacturing difficulties they faced due to Covid and were not able (and still are not) to meet the demand.

PS5's are still out of stock around here and in most places...

That and games got delayed too...

Xbox although has stock has a miserable amount of this gen games...

My best bet is, before christmas they will go wild again about it (probably around october).

Either way, no issues for me, wasn't planning on getting either... Even Sony is starting to release their stuff on PC, so no point on going for a subpar system.

Its a really bad time to be launching a new console. There are supply issues with the chips they need to make them caused by covid.

'Everyone' is at home a lot at the moment, including the people who make computer chips etc

Both consoles should have been postoned for a year or 2.

I ended up getting my hands on an XBox Series X some time in February 2021 after calling the local store every day for 3 weeks straight. I agree that it was a terrible time to launch, having a huge hooplah planned for release day, then promptly falling short of distribution numbers.

What I can say, is that upgrading from my XBox One to this has been a game changer. The frame rate, loading times and graphics are all astronomically better. Makes playing PVP fun again.

But I totally agree Dunmugmeh, Sony and Microsoft should have either stockpiled units pre-launch, or postponed the launch altogether until they wouldn't fall so embarrassingly short of their promises.

Due to this covid thing ANYTHING at all with chips in it is going to be delayed/more expensive/scarce.

Its not just chips either. i work in the contract packing industry. i help manage a food warehouse. if we order cardboard packaging of ANY kind now there are big delays. It used to take a week or 2 to get the boxes/cartons we need. Last week the latest update was its going to take at least 5 weeks from now on to get cardboard packaging.

Covid has completely screwed many sectors of the economy.

Its a bad time to launch a mass market product. I dont just mean the supply issues either, even though those are very big issues.

A lot of jobs dont exist anymore ... When furlough ends a LOT of people are going to have a LOT less money. They wont have a job to go back to ....

Furlough is keeping things ticking over in large parts of the economy. A lot of those jobs are gone the instant furlough ends.

A lot less people will be buying playstations/xboxes ...
