hi guys im looking for some help with getting started with crypto but dont 100% get what most "courses" say if anyone can help thatd be amazing please note I dont know the basics even yet

join a crypto exchange. make sure the exchange you join is a legit one like coinbase or binance.
there is alot of scams out there with people telling you to give them money in exchange for crypto, dont do this, never give another person your money or your crypto, it should always be yours and under your control like a personal bank. fully in your hands and your control. no one else should have access to any of your holdings. just make sure of these things before you do anything because there is alot of scammers out there in crypto.
my dad nearly fell for a martin lewis scam because boomers believe and trust this financial expert on itv called martin lewis, so people use his name to "sell" crypto and tell you that you need to give them a certain amount of money. try not to fall for these.... you never give anyone your money or your crypto, you have a exchange account, the exchange account will be under your control and any funds depositied should remain always under your control for you to flip for crypto coins back and forth and so on. so you have to be very aware that theres alot of scumbags out there tryna take advantage of this new market and people not knowing it.
oh, and if someone says to give them crypto and they will give you double in return, dont fall for that.... thats clearly a scam too and a very common one. and if people just thought on it theyd have been able to see that cannot work anyway.

Make sure you read up on your tax laws about crypto, so many people say you can't track crypto but unless you do something special to try and hide your crypto everything is visible on the blockchain, I know here in the US the IRS are dumping huge amounts of money to have better tracking of funds on the blockchain
