Curio's guide:

Once you start an attack. You have 5 minutes before a Stalemate and go to the hospital.

So if you should be using YATA https://yata.alwaysdata.net/ , Discord Bot...

When you see NPC UP. That is the 5 minutes before the player goes to the next level...typically from level 3 to level 4.

With a NPC UP go to the player page and click start attack.

It will take you to the attack page where you see START ATTACK.

DO NOT START until 10-20 other players have joined the ATTACK.

ONCE the attack starts, Wait until the other players start tossing temp items...

That's when you start your attack...

KEEP an eye out for your hits and timer...

If you have a HIGH hit count or about to time out...ESCAPE...

You should ESCAPE anyway close to the end....As there are 3 MERITS for ESCAPING 50, 250, and 1000...

There is also a STALEMATE merit for doing 100..

(EDIT) There is also SIDEKICK merit of 250 assists...

DOUBLE DRAGON merit of a single assist attack....

NPC's also good for getting the 1,000,000 rounds fired merit...

The 25 weapons too 100% merit...

If i remember correctly, looting is based on total number of hits connected. The higher number of hits you have on said target and the higher loot lvl they are, the better chance at getting a loot drop. You don't have to be in the battle when it finishes. ( I've never personally experienced this though)

From the wiki:
  • Loot is rewarded at random to those who participated in defeating the NPC, those who put in more effort are most likely to receive loot, so you don't have to make the finishing hit to loot the NPC.
  • Each NPC has a "Loot Level" which increases over time from 1 to 5 and resets upon defeat. A higher loot level will result in a higher chance of rare loot and more attackers receiving loot.

Since you mentioned the escape and stalemate merits, perhaps also worth mentioning the Sidekick honor for assisting in 250 attacks, simply make 24 turns in the fight and then wait for it to end.

Are npcs worth attacking for noobs like me? Can we win if I’m part of a strong group? What are the stat requirements?
Curio [645429]
level or stats does not really matter in a group attack with an npc....

your number of hits is just as good to get loot as someone 1000 time stronger.
