Vax sighed heavily as he looked up at his twin sister where she perched on the upper bunk, legs hung over and swinging back and forth, back and forth. Vex just grinned and stuck her tongue out as she hopped down, landing easily beside him several feet away.
"Come on, big bro...it'll be fun. Look, they even gave us uniforms!" she said, raising her hands to lift the collar of the rookie jumpsuit. Not even a raised collar could make the baggy getup look good, but she winked and Vex had to laugh.
The bright blue of her skin contrast starkly with the color of the jumpsuit, and he had to imagine he looked pretty much the same. His white hair was cut a bit shorter, more of a crew cut, whereas Vex's tumbled down her back in long, luxuriant waves. But their sparkling blue eyes were a perfect match to each other.
"All right, all right, we're here," he said, gesturing to take in the dorm, the recruit station and the whole lot. "May as well make the best of it. At least we're finally going to get off this rock."
Vex squealed with delight and clasped her hands beneath her chin as she beamed the smile at him that she was so well known for. Many a man had lusted after that look, but to Vax she was always just going to be his little (by less than a second) sister.
"What do you think they'll be having us do?" she asked via their telepathic kin-link as she started to spar with the wall. "Guard duty?" Then she started to mime sweeping the floor with a big push broom. "Cleaning?"
Vax shrugged. "We'll be doing whatever it is they tell us to do," he said.

"Not even time for a smoke or a sandwich? This is USF alright. " *Strange muttered as he buckled on his harness. He found himself rather confused frankly. He was just a wrench-cranker. Was something busted on the bridge? If it was, him and the filter-face he could understand. That whole bunch were mechanics because they didn't have a choice. But the other two? They didn't really look like they got too worried about the temper of a titanium weld bead. Maybe they were, maybe it was an all engineering berth? Something was off to him and a small alarm was going off in his brain as he tried to figure out where the hell the bridge was in this planet sized ship.
Could it be, they wanted him to do more than twist a wrench? The thought blanched him to the core. "
A small rebel frigate came out of Hyper Jump and immediately started firing upon 'The Odyssey'. The alarm went off and the frigate fired upon 'The Odyssey' with specially crafted torpedoes which did a number on the ships shield. 'The Odyssey' fired back with everything it had, damaged the small ship. It eventually imploded and repairs on 'The Odyssey' were underway. "I need the people I requested here now! Get here immediately!" Admiral Edwards shouted over the speakers.
Luna stumbled when the ship was attacked, and caught the wall for balance. She heard the Admiral's urgency and started to run a bit, not really knowing the layout of the massive Odyssey yet. Finally, she and the others arrived. Standing at attention, she tried to settle her breathing from their hustling and the sudden, unexpected attack. "Reporting for duty, Admiral." She saluted the officer and waited for his directive.

Empath (Renounced) > Backstory: Rus (as her friends call her (pronounced Roos) grew up in Moscow she was taken to alfea at a young age where she tested out after her parents decided to move to a Mars colony after a few years of roaming the streets she found the temple of the empaths where she learned how to use her abilities for good but she realized that no matter what she couldn't stop the voices she couldn't stop invading everyone's privacy no matter how hard she tried so she renounced it and joined the USF as a "priest" she was selected to join the odyssey to keep the morale high and incase anyone unfortunately parished so they could pass to the other side peacefully
Rus sits in her room quietly praying when the ship starts shaking she braces herself against the wall before sitting down and buckling in and waiting for it to pass when it does she goes back to praying
*The ship rocked with an impact, and strange recognized a sound he didn't like, torpedoes against a shield. Probably with a ion attachment on the head, as they did not simply detonate on the edge of the shield. A certainly confusing development, as it seemed to strange they had been out of port for long enough to walk to the bunks and halfway to the bridge.
Rus heads into her bathroom and dyes her hair violet and takes a shower. hoping the fighting has stopped she heads to the bridge in some of her old purple robes and takes a seat next to the new healer where she wraps her now dry hair in her hijab and sits with her legs criss crossed.
It was Vex's turn to heave a sigh as she stared at the communal holo-vid in the dorm's rec area. Commercials. *click* Some terrified bunny thing being taken down by a snaggletoothed purple dino puma looking thing.
All the other recruits had left days ago, assigned and shipped out. She and her brother were the only ones left. Their ability to withstand extremely high G's was going to be especially useful on the Odyssey. When it finally arrived, anyway. Until then, they waited.
"Watch now as the jackelope tries to blend in with his surroundings and outwit the drango - little does he know, this predator has the best sense of smell in the who-" *click* "This just in! We repeat," said a nervous young news caster. "The Odyssey has just come under fire in orbit above the planet!"
She sat up suddenly, paying close attention. Vax came out of the showers, a towel around his waist and another in his hair as he rubbed it dry. "Gonna rot yer brain, sis...you still wa-"
"Shhhhhhhh!" Vex said, waving a hand at him with the remote in it. "I think they're talking about the ship we're going to be on! The Odyssey, right?"
The snappy retort died on Vax's lips as he turned to look at the screen with her. The image of a rebel frigate, dwarfed by the bulk of the flagship, flashed and imploded. Flashed and imploded.
"Yeah," he said. The towel that had been on his head fell to the floor, forgotten. "Shit, we may never get there!"
"Shit, we may never get there!" were the first words the entity heard, as the worm-hole closed behind it. It didn't know what these random noises meant, it did not know that they communicated through their mouths (or, for that matter, what mouths were.) How it had arrived here, or how it would deal with these beings... It did, however, remember a time when these so-called beings were shuffling around on all four limbs, and consuming flesh, raw. The remembrance of that fact gave it what could be considered, in a language not equipped for it, comfort.
So it retreated into the shadows, to watch, and learn.
Sky ran hurriedly into the 'The Odyssey' loading bay in their rushed and matted uniform and a duffle bag swaying about their shoulder. It was already 9 am, and they were already late for their briefing by 30 minutes. Sky wasn't the early bird or the most talented, they just had the most wits in her technical works. Engineering was her main strength, that was one of the reasons why she was given a job on the famed 'The Odyssey' as one of the head engineers.
Their mother also played a big role in their's spot. Sky's mother was a genetics expert, though both Sky and their mother living modestly in London. Their mother actually created Sky due to infertility, but due to an error, Sky was born with both male and female organs.

"W-Wait! I am here sir!" Sky called out breathlessly.
Rus looks over at the new arrival and decides to head back to her room before the admiral starts his briefing for the active crew so she gets up fixes her robe and heads back to her room passing the new person giving her a quick glance when she gets to her room she grabs her notebook and heads to her office near the bridge when she gets there she turns the lights on and flips the sign on her door over letting everyone know shes open if anyone needs to talk while she waits she tidies up and sits in her chair drawing various things
After an exhausting reprimand from the Senior Engineer, Sky dropped off their duffle bag in their living quarter and ventured around the place. Sky wanted to get used to the new home they were going to stay in...for who knows how long. Noticing a sign inside someone's office, Sky curiously twisted the door knob and opened the door just a tiny bit.
“Well, its just that I wanna get to know yo-the ship! Yeah, the ship! It’s part of my job as one of the head engineers to know what to fix when something happens to what.” Sky said as they sat down on a chair in front of Rus.
Dark stood with the other three. He was interested in why they'd been called, but the evident attack on The Odyssey would surely leave some repairs to be done.
