your leader has been here 5k days, he knows the score and is prolly aware of the harrassment rules within torn. The staff are extremely keen to stamp out rl harrassment and usually do this with fed if proven beyond a doubt.

It is his problem to deal with, not yours and it is his problem to report and act on, not yours.

All you have done is advertise his rl stuff and make him a target for more trolls and dickheads.

Sadly there is a special category of f**kwits in Torn and kickrocks is obviously one of them.

I applaud your faction initially dealing with this outside the forums and your faction leaders wish to keep it that way.

By the same token I also applaud your decision to bring this matter to the attention of the wider community. There are some things, even in Torn, that are simply not at all acceptable.

In the very least I hope that kickrocks is man enough to come to the forums, admit his mistake and make a very sincere apology.

I'd really like to say I'm surprised or shocked but I can't. This guy isn't the first to assume that because this is an online game, common decency is just a distant concept that only applies to real-life actions. Sadly, he's not the last one either.

Thats one viewpoint, now i'm sorry if I doubt further people will dog-pile my faction leader for getting harassed about his wife but you're right i probably should of went through him first.

Blame social media. No, really, I think thats part of the issue here. Kids these days do not understand the dangers of internet. They have grown up in the age of social media, their first picture possibly being shared online before they even opened their eyes properly. Sure, their parents are to blame for that, but it is what it is. These kids have learned that its normal to share everything online, whereas us late 80’s - early 90’s kids learned that “what you put online is there forever” and that stranger-danger applies online too. In the early days of internet people had more reservations about their privacy.

Now that is definitely a vile thing to say, especially if being said with the knowledge of the receiver actually having a wife who has passed away. But how would he know that he even is a man in reality? Or that he had a wife? Or that the wife has passed? We are playing text-based RPG here, which stands for role playing game. Who says he wasn’t making all of that up, playing his Torn character? I mean who here really believes Evil-Duck is the prince of Africa? Now I am not actually questioning the OPs story here about his faction lead’s wife being dead. Not at all, I just want to clarify that right away, before someone makes any silly assumptions. I am just saying that people can say and claim anything, it’s the internet.

What I am trying to say here, is that don’t share too much on the internet and don’t believe everything you see or read on the internet. It’s all your choices in the end. Know the risks involved and be prepared for it. Think what you want random people of Torn to know about you. Act accordingly.

I went through something similar when my wife was killed 3 years ago.

Its deplorable, but I did what so many here have said your leader should do. I blocked and ignored, smh at what a garbage human this guy was for sayin that kinda stuff, and just moved past it.

Outing him publicly just woulda kept it going, and I really just wanted to get past that shit as fast as humanly possible, so I didnt take the route you have here. I would bet your leader isnt thrilled about it being a current topic of discussion as well, so I'd try to let this thread die, or even grave it. SO many things make me think about her every day, having a bunch of online peeps discussing it after the fact will just keep it even fresher ... no bueno bud. Trust me on this one

Whereas before these freaks used to go to pubs, get drunk and start fights, or flash in parks, or just be general dickheads they now have social media - a tool which gives them a voice aying whatever they want from the comfort of their front living room to anywhere on the planet.

You either ignore them and get on with your life or get upset and twisted.
