...that sounds horrible. Traveling itself is terrible money and very time intensive. You're also in a worthless company that isn't helping further your account at all. And you're paying for that.
You should be finding other ways to make money rather than travel, tbh. I can understand going this route when you're brand new but not when you've been around a year or 2.
Paying 60m monthly tax is reasonable. You invest money to make more money, sure the director will have quite the blossoming income from it and some people may call it scummy, but really, how do you make money in Torn without being scummy?
Traders takes a chunk of money for every trade, faction leaders milks respect and then flips the faction for money, poker players have friends on the same table to increase their profits, muggers steals money from others, scammers scams money, snipers buys items before the player can update the price after missing a zero etc etc etc.
While I see scamming as being scummy, the rest is just business. As far as I know there is no one who is forcing anyone to work in LS, so those who do feels 60m to be a reasonable investment to make money. The director is happy and the workers are happy, so tbh it's one of the least scummy of the money making ways since the only ones who are unhappy with it are the people who arn't involved with the company at all.
OP has been abroad in China for the past few hours, and is no longer in a company. Looks like the director fired them at some point in the last few hours to replace them with a player with better stats.
I can sorta see that side, however, any director knows what they're getting into when they aquire a company, and no company would be 10* without the employees working there. I run a pub, at a loss, for nothing more than the perks offered. I don't sell trains nor ask for money from anyone, in fact I still pay a few of them salaries (albeit meager). There's an obvious symbiotic relationship in companies, directors and the companies can't star up without employees, and directors and employees can't reap the benefits without the stars
I know all of this is obvious, too, but sometimes I feel some folk need the reminder that sometimes there are other options..maybe not in this case, since all 10* LS's are charging employees lol.
Honestly though, makes no sense to pay for one when they're so cheap, buy your own company and f**k em. Also can do faction run ones. As a bonus with faction run ones, you can start hitting the competition, intentionally chasing other companies overseas with 10 hosp merits, whacking them until they leave the company etc.
That's how you SHOULD do them. Makes all the sense in the world to take them on as teams and honestly brutally beat the shit out of the competition. At some point with that competition they WILL be like farms where you're cycling trying to hold 10*s every other week. The time to get in the ground floor and beat your competition to death is now.
Why you would pay instead of just start up your own when they're a <2m startup is just mind boggling tbh. Also, if you promise free slots you can get people on at level 1 and pump it up pretty fast, stat requirement isn't even that high.
I'd do it if flying wasn't so mind-numbingly horrendously boring.
-----Edit: Lol just looked at the situation, gonna lay it out below for those noob directors that don't realize what's going to happen.
Noobs buying a 2m company profiting 7.2b a year off employees SMH, no wonder there are so many. Wait til the others get hard 10*s (meaning they get enough total profit to unlock it). Good luck charging employees for 50% of the benefit. With the number up and coming you 100% will have to share 10*s every other week, your profits WILL be cut in half. What then, you charge 30m a month? Nah, employees better off in other companies.
There are ~35 active farms (anything 1*+, this is what contributes to how many 10*s are allowed at once) and they're struggling to share 10*s at every other week without some falling to 8 after failed attempts let alone 10 every other week, this is getting even harder the more that make farms to the point some have deleted their companies entirely, and new ones that don't realize the micro-management put in is a lot of work, many farm directors have given up.
There are 138 active Lingire stores. Once they start unlocking 10*s you're all f**ked. No wonder the directors are milking it while they can, the companies will be worthless in <1 year, not because they suck, but because the valuable asset is at 10*s not 1, 3, 5, or 7.
Any company with their good specials at 1-7*s or even 10*s on an active one you spend points on can manage in this system because they still get 95% of the benefit (10*s half the time and 9*s the other half). The value being on a 10* passive, good f**king luck with that. Any time you're not 10*s you're effectively getting nothing and once things settle in you 100% will not be able to maintain 10*s more than 50% of the time. A lot of people are about to learn a very hard lesson.
TL;DR If directors there are any decent, most won't be able to hold 10%s even 50% of the time, the ones that will will be exactly 50% of the time, spend a ton on advertising and have employees at basically 10* the base stat requirement with merits in company efficiency. If you're getting into it, do so with a faction/buddies, with merits, with profit-sharing going into advertising, and while charging nothing outside of advertising fees or don't bother tbh.
TL;DR of the TL;DR Create a commune or don't bother if you're in this for the long haul, paying someone already at 10*s isn't the answer. If you're in it for the short term, it makes sense for you to pay the shitty fees, but don't do it up front, they can kick you. Setting up a commune should guarantee you the 10* perk 50% of the time if everyone contributes a bit, don't expect more than that though. If I'm real, you're probably better off with WLT and sucking up the extra travel time.
Sorry if the math is off due to base travel times and how math works IDK, that may be a factor but my brains fried and it's midnight. I'm sure someone will correct me if so, either way the special seems shit once enough companies get 10*s unlocked.
Here's the real question, how much of the OPs profit is from the +2 items and bonus travel time vs a PI? I bet not that much vs a PI once you math it out. 30% faster than the PI, plus 2 items OP makes 10m a day...again someone would have to math it based on time, but seems like a large portion of his extra profit is going straight to the boss. Nothing about this whole scheme from charging employees now until their inevitable fall from oversaturation seems very appealing. (Looks like someone kinda did the math on page 2 and it works out to if the OP has a PI, yes he's pretty much giving all his extra profit to the director while working his ass off, nice.jpg)
Even a PI is better than this 10* special once things settle in, a 5% bonus and losing out on all other job specials? This company is total trash purely due to player valuation being so high combined with how jobs work.
If 10*s were unlimited it'd be a fine company with no fees and flower running directors whos benefit is a personal piggy bank. No one should pay fees. But because how they work once things settle in, they'll ALL be useless.
I just hope we don't get a +250 vote suggestion from the directors/employees crying about it AFTER the fact. They're doing it to themselves, should know what's in store long term, and if they don't complain now they have no right to later "because I put so much work in". They should have a 100% clear view of the future.
Feel free to bookmark this post for when they do.
My TL;DRs keep getting longer but um yeah, don't pay fees and don't run one if you understand companies at all.
<3 year ROI for a permanent benefit and having other company specials vs permanent taxes? Torn is a long term game, seems an absolute no brainer in favor of WLT to me. If you're running that much for 3 years (god help you) it's actually higher ROI than most investments if it's really 33% ROI. Anything after that is just icing...also you can resell the entire block, you can't re-acquire all the shit you paid to some asshole for a company that will go under in less than a year.
Nothing makes sense about running or joining this company for fees unless you're running it for fees and plan to sell it before 10*s oversaturates, which if you know the % of 10*s allowed you should be able to do right on the mark before the noobs realize it.
So the winners are the ones charging at 10*s with plans to sell at a very specific time. Everyone else is gonna lose, though since they're milking so much it may even be worth it if they delete the company and walk off without even trying to sell it to people. So if you count reselling it it's more like 1.5y in comparison eh?
Honestly, I complained about this job special when it hit, but now I realize it's shit because it's at a 10* passive and over-competitive. Others will realize it soon too. Would be nice if tier 2 WLT benefit did BCT speeds though. I suspect this special was more thought out than people thought (and than even I realized) the company is cheap for a good reason.
Sure, If you've got the resources for a WLT block, I agree, and then you can utilise the perks from whatever other company you're working for as well - obviously those bonuses (at least monetarily) can't be quantified in a basic spreadsheet. But just going on profit for someone who clearly enjoys running plushies and might not want to spend all their time in Torn trading, it works well.
Well, until they got fired for making this post i guess..
They 100% can be quantified in a basic spreadsheet, the numbers and %s are all there. Don't forget PI which is 30% you have by default if you don't want WLT. Nothing changes the fact that nothing makes sense about paying a director 2m a day for this company right down to you HAVE to fly almost 24/7 just to not break even and if you're profiting about the same, other companies give more.
You're not just breaking even though. You are profiting. If you WANT to spend 12 hours a day flying - i don't, but i'm not going to judge someone else's desires in Torn - having a PI and working at a toy store (more plushies than LS) gives you ~10mil profit a day. that seems good in my book. BUt then you have the other perks of a toy store which aren't that great I suppose. 12 hours a day flying in a 10* LS gives ~20mil. If someone wants to give 10% of that to a director for allowing them the perk, I can see why they would. Not saying that I would. But I can see why someone would.
You can't count what you'd make outside of the company specials. Only the extra profit from the special itself. Which you have to work your ass off to be equivalent to some of the other good jobs out there, so why pay for it instead of joining one of those others? Also what if you have a few slow days in a month or miss a couple days? If people are saying you travel 6* to break even and 8* if you go all in constantly, if you miss even a few days and have a few slow days a month you get f**k all out of it xD
OPs networth graph after busting his ass constantly says it all. Even busting his ass he ain't even recovering let alone profiting xD
The stats required for the "good" jobs are much higher than for this one though. It's still an "entry level" job. It's no oil rig or tv company. And I agree - if you miss a day or two in a month flying 12 hours a day then you get ~550mil profit in a month rather than ~600mil profit in a month. I wouldn't want to be tied down to that schedule, but some people like routine, and if it works for them, then it works for them. As to the networth graph - there was still ten days before the month was up, and we can't tell if they were spending that money as they made it on xan edvds meds etc
Also, that drop in the NW is more than 60mil, so I dunno what else went on there. EDIT: (maybe paid for two months? - if so bad move)
I'm not really disagreeing with you, I'm just saying that for some people this is perfectly fine. I don't agree with the director charging that amount, I'm more just defending the job position as a whole.
OK I get it now but that's kinda weird tho because its kinda like your just working for free and at the same time paying instead you receiving pay if not for the special am sure people won't be doing that
"There are 138 active Lingire stores. Once they start unlocking 10*s you're all f**ked. No wonder the directors are milking it while they can, the companies will be worthless in <1 year, not because they suck, but because the valuable asset is at 10*s not 1, 3, 5, or 7."
This is the most critical take.
If you're traveling 20 hrs of the day: Airstrip - 169 minutes 1 way - 3.55 trips - 7.2M/day - 216M/month WLT - 121 minutes 1 way - 4.96 trips - 10M/day - 302M/month BCT - 72 minutes 1 way - 8.33 trips - 17M/day - 507M/month
If the Lingerie store is a 10* and you're traveling 20 hours a day you're bringing in ~290M more than with a PI of which you're paying 60M to a director which is great. You're committing to traveling all day and you're hoping you don't lose 10* b/c if you do the company is worth less than flower or toy etc.
I did the math on page 2 by using TornTools, with 12 hrs of travel time (As that is the equivalent of 5 BCT trips to China and back)
To summarize: 10* LS: $10,224,000- tax= $8,224,000, $7,724,000 or $7,224,000 + 100 END a day from special 10* Cruiseliner: $6,624,000+$500,000 to $1,500,000 wage - upkeep= $6,947,750 to $7,947,750 +Company specials of Casino tokens for possible casino+lottery profits and drug addiction reduction for more drug usage without needing to rehab (250K/rehab). Base profit: $5,688,000- upkeep + whatever wages and benefits the company you are in has
There is absolutely no reason to be in this Lingerie Store, you would barely make any more profit compared to being in a 10* CL. Wouldn't surprise me if even a Grocery, SS or AN would result in a daily profit equal to it.
Regarding stars, it's pretty damn obvious that the company is gonna star down any week/month now. There are already several lingerie stores that have the same income, if not more. And this makes it pretty obvious that the 60 million+/month people are paying isn't going back into the company
Really wish the employees did something about this, either by several of them threatening to leave, or by leaving right before reset, as I doubt the director would be able to fill spots that quickly. The director needs them a lot more than they need him.
So technically worth it (barely) if you're 100% confident your RL won't get in the way of Torn and 100% confident you'll be able to pull off an exceptionally high flight time for a month straight but those are both so iffy.
Might be less of an argument if they charged 1m/day instead of 2, still a sucky practice, but it's definitely a milking the cow until it runs out situation. Once there are too many with 10*s unlocked it's over type of deal.
Yours/Torn tools numbers does not match with actuals. There is no way you can make $6,624,000 in 12 hrs in 10* CL
I assume carrying panda plushie is the most profitable item to carry (or at least very close to most profitable).
Current market price: $68,000 Cost of buying: $400 Profit/plushie: $67,600
Profit/trip in 10* LS: $67,600 * 31 = $2,095,600 Profit/minute in 10* LS = $2,095,600/144 = $14,552 Profit/12 hrs in 10* LS = $14,552*720 = $10,477,440
Profit/trip in 10* CL: $67,600 * 34 = $2,298,400 Profit/minute in 10* CL = $2,298,400/338 = $6,800 Profit/12 hrs in 10* CL = $6,800*720 = $4,896,000
So you earn $5,581,440 more in 10* LS or $3,581,440 after tax or 2,257,690 - 3,257,690 after tax, wages and upkeep. So working in 10* LS is still lot better than working in 10* CL even after paying 2m tax.
Note: I did not consider casino tokens and drug addiction reduction specials in CL.
