Would rather train now and participate during Trick or Treat.

Think elim would benefit from being removed from the Calendar for a bit.

250mil stats?!
I’m in the same boat as you… but I don’t think I could enjoy it and be worth anything to a team unless I had over a billion stats in each combat category.

Very dramatic, but not being able to be effecting in attacking events on a crime game, always takes me back to my thoughts of why I even bother playing the game to begin with!

I like to think that to make war events fun and so that everyone gets a chance, they make it abit like osrs dead man mode.

At the start of the event everyone stats get reset to 0. Then during the team selection period everyone can train upto when the event properly starts.

Long time serving players with all there boosts and cash can still use these perks to gain the advantage but atleast new players are not billions of stats away…

This gives new player Jimmy (who plays 24/7 with only 1mil stats after year) a chance to compete lvl 100 Timmy (with a trillion stars who obtained his stats back in the day, who plays for an hour once a week and is afk throughout the event)

Also gives Jimmy a way to say he would be as good as a player as Timmy if he had started back in the day.

After the event, stats return to normal.

Team balance seem really messed up this year.

I find 100 lives to be a real drag though. Elimination time gets very uninteresting when it occurs 1100-1199 times.

We're at 24 hours and lost 12% of the players (Updated the OP). There's been a lot of good points brought up so far in the thread though, the one getting mentioned most seems to be the way teams are assigned. I'm not entirely sure i agree with it personally. Sure, it would help reduce the amount of people able to stack a team together, but at the same time, people still want to play with their friends. I'm not sure if that will help more than it hurts the actual participants in elimination.

I think we have to go some other route, something to make it new and exciting again. Repeating everything for a second year seems to have only made it more boring and a lot of people seem to just be "Meh" about this year. It's too early for me to form too many cognitive thoughts, but what would you change to the actual mechanics of elimination to make it more exciting again?

Random (unknown) tick within each 15mins is one that gets mentioned, to stop the rinse and repeat of 15min lag filled pushes.

So it could be :13, :18, 40, :58. Then completely different and so on

Make Eliminations work like X-mas town. You walk around and if you run into a player on another team you have to fight. Everyone starts each day with 10 lives. I think would be way more interesting

The way teams are assigned is one of the major issues. It's the big players 'playing with their friends' that cause the game to be extremely inbalanced from the first minute. It should be a game where you make friends with your teammates, and make what you can with the team you have, not one where you stack a team to start with and then just go through the motions. No one bar the people that stack their team want to play in a game where the other side is stacked, while your team has the dregs. The only solution is fully pot lucking it when you opt into elim.

I'd make the event shorter. Dramatically cut the number of lives, so teams die faster/is more intense and there is less opportunity cost to join.

Finally, I'd up the rewards - from top players getting SEs to players that do a single attack getting a bottle of beer. Token shop evidently also needs more honours for the top players.

TLDR: Full random teams, better rewards, shorter event.

Think it could also have a lot to do with the world we currently live in. With this virus still lingering around there is a lot of instability in places. Torn players come from all over. Players situations and ability to fully participate in this year's elimination are compromised. Some who maybe wish they were playing in the como maybe just can't do it this year.

Elimination needs something added to it that you can't get anywhere else. People loot NPCs for their unique items. Competitive warring is rumored to have special loot. Dog tags at least gives you a dog tag. Even the Egg Hunt gives you eggs. But elimination doesn't offer anything. And it could be something other than loot, it could be an experience.

For example, this idea would be fun, but I think it would be too much work for devs to set up, so I don't see it happening.

We could make a team from the permanently fedded players (the Felons). Basically set them up as NPCs, pair them as we pair currently players to inactives for Missions, and have them attack people who are on teams.

The Felons wouldn't have a strategy (unless Duke wanted to lead them) so it's not likely they would win. But it would be the one chance a year that people would have to beat the shit out of that guy who scammed them last year. And that team could add some drama. Maybe a dozen or so accounts would not be automated but instead be played by staff members or management to add some realism.

The drawback would be the effort required by development to convert those accounts and also make them accounts that can auto-attack. Development would also have to allot them energy. (Mugging would not be an allowed outcome).

The advantage would be that the modified accounts could be used again in future years without much effort.

------------

Another option would be to introduce a special weapon for competition. It would work like a dirty bomb except there would be no respect loss and it would only affect the members of one "target" team. However, there would also be a chance that the weapon would backfire instead, doing the damage to the team deploying it.

The weapon cannot be purchased (to keep anyone from "buying" a win) but would have to be acquired somehow in the competition, or one could be awarded to each team at the start.

----------------

Another possibility is to add a "war" option for the competitors. If you select the war option, the recently-added attacking delays would be temporarily removed, HOWEVER you would also lose the ability to mug as an outcome, or possibly other Torn activities that have been abused with a faster response time. So you could recapture that fast attack experience, but only in Elimination.

---------------

Finally, the idea that could actually be implemented easily, we could get The Torn clothing person to design 12 new Torn t-shirts. The basic shape of the t-shirt would just copy another item and be the same for all 12, to minimize effort in design. But the pattern on the t-shirt would be a design representing your elimination team and the year of the competition.

You would receive the t-shirt at the beginning of the competition but would lose it if you quit the team. Once the competition is over, you could keep it or sell it, but there will only ever be a max of 1000 of each in circulation, which would make it a valuable item. In fact, it would make a case for joining the smallest / weakest team as that t-shirt would be the rarest one and hence worth more to anyone collecting the complete set.

Honestly, I think what needs to be done is just make the event much more rewarding like Halloween or Xmas - its already an expensive event for newer players with the need to use xanax, meds.

One idea could be that you get "tokens" for each kill you make - maybe 2 tokens for retals. These can then be exchanged in a token shop for random cans, drugs, meds etc at different price points as well as special items that can be limited in no. of purchases e.g a random book (limited to 1 purchase for 100 tokens) etc. Rewards can vary obviously, these are just suggestions

Also, add in 1 item that is unique every year - some sort of commemorative item that can't be sold (for a token sum of tokens - maybe 10 or 20, just to get ppl off their asses, participation reward). - this is for the people who don't need the item rewards, but are collectors.

Put simply - just make it so that it rewards those who hits more, but allows people to have a net neutral or even net positive event. The post highlights how elim team numbers are dropping - but what is also glaring is that there are teams where 1/3 of the people who join a team haven't even done a single hit.

Team assignment should be random and balanced. The idea that its not is a big problem. Elims in essence should be a tomato fight, not a tactical bullying session like so many other aspects of this game.
