As a new player is hunting worth it, or is it better to invest the energy in the gym?

I would suggest only doing hunting on hunting day. on the 29th of july. Gives 5X more hunting exp, hunting generally is only for the merrits, not for the cash. So stick to your battlestats in the gym or missions! …

100% this...it takes relatively little time to get the Hunting 50 and 75 merits (maybe 1-2 World Tiger Days)....getting Hunting 100 takes thousands of energy, which would be much better suited towards training (there are a lot more merits to get via training anyway).
World Tiger Day should really be the only time you invest any energy into Hunting outside of the 50-60 energy you would need to spend on a non-business class ticket trip to South Africa to avoid hitting the energy cap during the trip.
Hunting 100 is supposed to take years and shouldn't really be a priority for anyone.

If you stack and stay with it you should be able to pass 50 hunting skill in one Tiger Day event. I went all out and almost made it to 75.
