· 7 likes · I would check if your Facebook 'likes' Torn, and if your mobile number is on your Facebook. Would seem a tangible process if so. Also, if that is the case, daaamn scammers are wild these days.

Considering we don't store mobile numbers in a manner where they could be obtained, and you don't have yours added to your account (via 2FA method) then it wouldn't be anything on our side there - someone perhaps added your mobile number from something else you posted it on before? Perhaps you posted info on Facebook and have more information publicly available than you realize...
If you want to mail me the details I can investigate this further.
OP (and quite honestly anyone who still uses FB) I would recommend looking through the following options to update your privacy settings on FB:
Privacy settings can be found under Settings > Privacy on both desktop and mobile. Options to look at include:
"Who can see my stuff?" consider selecting "Friends" instead of "Public" to avoid your posts being openly available
"Who can contact me?", consider selecting "Strict Filtering"
- Also change "Who can send me friend requests?" to "Friends of friends"
Under "How do I stop someone from bothering me?", add names or emails of anyone you want to block
Click "See More Settings" and review these options
- It's particularly worth limiting past posts and ensuring other search engines don’t link to your timeline (that way your Facebook page won’t turn up in a Google search)
I highly recommend skipping all these steps and instead DELETING facebook entirely. If you wish to keep photos or posts you've uploaded, download them first. Then DELETE your fb account.
Not Torn but recently got a Facebook message from some rando asking me if he could have my account and/or free stuff from an old game I used to play. He just found me through liking that game's Facebook page. I haven't used Facebook in nearly two years.
