I think the only real way to tell would be for someone to commit to kidnap once they hit a new nnb. Then you can compare how much nerve spent on kidnap to get from 55 to 60 as compared to arsons. I may do this when I get there.
HuntedGhost [2568914]
Unfortunately I can't do that as I have been 55nnb for a while, but I'll trust the 4800 Arson CE requirement for 55 to 60 in that famous chart, deduct the amount of arsons I did after 55nnb (recorded the amount as I just hit 55nnb) from that value, and then compare the remaining value with the amount of kidnap woman I'll have done when I reach 60. Hopefully it will be a good enough estimate.

Measuring crimes over a long length of time is difficult because of the impact of OCs which have just as much unknown as with crimes. You could come up with rough approximations but that’s about it.

The most accurate way to measure crimes is probably by following the procedure laid out in the Crime Experience article earlier this year.

I look forward to hearing results. I am debating trying as I don't want to significantly reduce my time from 55 to 60. I will use your results to decide how to proceed and how much time to put towards kidnaps.

For collecting the data, I suppose we take a SS/make notes of the personal stats before starting experiment, add values to a sheet with every crime (or chain of crimes and such). After experiment is over, compile results. Would this be right?
Just curious.

If so, it takes up time and energy doesn't it? or is there some awesome script to do the counting >.<

Just stumbled across this. Great stuff. Can we get a update? Might take a break from 30k+ arsons depending on the data

If you are asking specifically about Kidnap Woman, I am at about 1700 attempts and a 65.8% success rate…slightly higher than shown in the table (and calculations)

the trickiest part is making sure you have some way of keeping track of how many you do…otherwise it will just look like you’ve stolen a few extra jackets

They should really add categories to all crimes :(

Thanks for the calculations. I'll try some kidnap crimes. Am at 35 nnb rn, and was mostly doing arsons. No fed judge or psych degree, 25% crime success from faction.

You can just use your log to grab the crimes.

You could set up a script to fetch them regularly and store the numbers of each type, but the simple way is just go to the log, find the date your NNB last changed, then filter for crimes. Scroll down until everything back to the date of your NNB change is visible. Then click on the button that formats everything as a nice table, copy and paste it into Excel for further calculating of each crime type, successes and fails.

I did this recently myself and it took maybe 20 minutes total (most of it was scrolling down for ages).

Are you aware if you lose CE for getting a red for kidnap woman and you have the money to pay them off? Not sure if you lose CE based on the red response or the hosp result. If you do lose CE, even just 1 CE per red I wouldn't think you'd be able to beat out Warehouse Arsons
Diking [1951369]
I have data on 1823/2728 kidnap woman successes. 66.83% success rate which is a bit higher than the chart. If we assume the 2 CE per success is accurate, then arson warehouse is not best.
VanilaNightmare [2310825]
I dont know the answer but with red fails happening about 1/3 of the time, it would be nearly impossible to measure the CE gain of Kidnap Woman without any penalties for a red fail being accounted for. That is if there is any penalty at all
VanilaNightmare [2310825]
I’m not sure I agree. The process that Biggles laid out using the order in which members are listed for OCs for measuring CE gain, to me, seems to be most accurate method for comparison.

The amount of nerve to go from one CE to another is only an estimation and does not factor in the contribution from OCs. It would give you a rough idea but no where near the precision of Biggles process

I'm interested in this business around Kidnap Woman. I may not able to test how much CE it gives (I haven't been tracking my progress in other crimes to do so), but I will share my success rate and money per nerve used when I get a substantial amount of crimes done.

Edit: Some numbers so far. Will update it every once in a while. (Btw I have 55nnb and enhancer for it)

Success: 851 (61.39%) (1702 Arsons equivalent assumed)
Failures:535 (38.60%)
Total: 1386

Money Won: $44,293,228
Money Loss: $24,075,000
Net: $20,218,228

Total Nerve Used: 20790 (1890 equivalent Arsons done/ 1795 success with a 95% chance)

Arson CE/Nerve: 94.81%
Dollar/Nerve used: 972.49 (I don't know how this is calculated in the first post. Are you ignoring the failures nerve cost?)

With this results so far I think I can say the CE you can earn is similar to arsons, but at least in my case it seems arsons are a little better experience-wise

I have just finished 10k arsons and I am now doing kidnap woman. I will track my results and update them here occasionally if anyone is interested. I have 55nnb, Federal Judge, and access to criminality upgrades from my faction. For the calculation of CE per nerve, the calculation is (which I imagine is what OP did as well) given at the bottom*. But OP's post has a much bigger sample size anyway so I expect my results to converge to theirs as I go on, which suggests slightly higher CE gain than arson warehouse. Of course, just like the OP, I assume the 2.0 Arson CE equivalent reported in the newspaper article is correct.

Kidnap woman = 2.0x (from the newspaper)

Also, feel free to use my data if you like.

Successes: 1121 (65.5%)
Fails: 591 (34.5%)
Current Arson Equivalent: 0.998 (or 99.8%, when Arson would be 100%)
Money Per Nerve: $1056

*If arsons give X amount of CE, kidnap woman gives 2X amount of CE. Arsons take 11 nerve, kidnappings 15.
So for Arson: CEperNerve_Arson = (X / 11) * SuccessRate_Arson
Similarly, for Kidnap Woman: CEperNerve_Woman = (2X / 15)*SuccessRate_Woman

Current Arson Equivalent would then be the division of the two i.e. CEperNerve_Woman / CEperNerve_Arson

"if there is any penalty at all" it is in fact very miniscule. You can see I quite literally failed 4 times back to back and never drop back to 35 NNB (I know it sais 45 to 50, but that's because I'm in Meat Warehouse, +10 nerve bonus).

After the four immediate fails, and one following success, and one more following fail, I began emptying my pocket before each attempt, which produced the two successes and the ultimate fail & jail, and my NNB promptly dropped back to 35 NNB.
