What is the point on parcels since it tells you what they contain before opening? That being the case, how do people fall for horses heads and bombs?

Correct. As above, when sending an SED or horse head parcel, you choose from a drop-down menu what you’d like it to show as what’s inside.
when you add a horse head to a parcel (possibly a bomb I'm not sure) it asks what you want it to look like so you can pretend you are sending something else

And, it used to be that when sending someone an item, you could only send one at a time. The parcel enabled you to send 10 at a time. No longer applicable but there is the history
