If they're so bad it hurts to look at, you've got a few options.
You could spam or continue the conversation until chat no longer scrolls back that far (staff sometimes do this in public chats when someone says something really bad and bypasses the filter).
You could block them if you have no desire to talk to them after that.
Or if it's truly something horrible (like, something you just shouldn't really say in the first place or is bypassing a filter), report the chat. I don't believe that'll clear it, but it'll let the other person know not to say stuff like that in the future
