This thread might have the answers you are seeking

If you are talking 9 nerve crimes, you are talking about computer virus crimes…not hacking. Those are the 18 nerve crimes. Though it’s plausible, since they are similar, that they both are similarly effected

Mentions: Hacking Crimes for Cash

So if I'm reading this right, you can do hack FBI in a meat warehouse and grow your CE at a rate that is 2.5 times slower than doing arsons? So hacking in a meat warehouse is a net positive?
VanilaNightmare [2310825]
I believe it was Ched that confirmed some CE is lost on a hospitalization fail in a Bugs & Issues post. However, it must be a small amount or it wouldn’t have gone unnoticed for so long

I am not sure if someone has done this. Anyways. I just started. Hit 55 nnb a bit ago and switched to only kidnap woman. Hope it works out.

It's a little early to start generalizing this outcome just yet, but I managed to get from 50nnb to 55nnb with only 3237 arsons worth of CE and a combination of Planned Robberies and Money Trains. I tried to faithfully perform arsons while on cannabis cooldown since the wiki hints it improves crime success. So cannabis really may make a difference, even past success cap. Will have another data point when I get to 60nnb.. 4800ish arsons worth from now....

Update on these numbers after more than one month:

Total: 2043
Success: 1315 (64.4%)
Fail: 728 (35.6%)
Average gain: $14400
Average gain/Nerve: $960

My success rate is still lower than the reported rate here (64.4% vs 65.9%), could it be that the success cap is actually higher than previously thought?
Adobi [2443510]
With a 65.9% success rate there is a 12% chance your actual success rate will be 64.4% or lower in 2043 attempts. Probably not statistically significant yet.
VanilaNightmare [2310825]
I haven’t updated the graphic in a while but my current success rate is 65.0% (a little lower than what is shown) with roughly 4700 attempts. It calculates out to 1% below Arson Warehouse but still well within the margin of error.

Not sure how that plays into the discussion but thought I would share
VanilaNightmare [2310825]
Correct. That’s exactly why I switched to Kidnap Woman after hitting 10k fraud. It’s slow going to the theft merits but it’s at least working towards something while still being the fastest way to build CE

Why does being a Meat Warehouse appear not to make a difference in "% of Arson CE gain/nerve" for Arson Warehouse (among others like Stealth Virus) but it does for FBI Hacking?

Is this because some crimes don't have red fails to cut the loss in half?
VanilaNightmare [2310825]
Yeah, essentially the penalty for failing an arson is already negligible so reducing the penalty even further doesnt make a measurable difference
