What do people think about the cool down period after a war?

I think it should be used as a way to stop factions joining wars with no intention of fighting much just to try and get a cache. I do not think winning factions should be stopped from jumping back in and going again if they so wish.

Do you think it's ok as it is, or it still needs tweaking in one way or another?

TL:DR

No cd for winners. Longer cd for low participation.

Pretty sure that's exactly marsey's point. We just had a war like that with SMTH. Now we're waiting (impatiently) for cooldown and then waiting a bit more (impatiently) to be matched.

Please don't D3vil. I deliberately chose to not call people out in this thread in the hope we could discuss the issue and not just call each other names.

I would love it if you could explain to us why it shouldn't be punished. Convince us it was for the best of all involved. But if you can't please don't shit on the thread by reacting to those baiting you.

Takes time for a match to be set and then start. I'm against adding a CD for ranked wars. The system already has safeguards in place to limit rewards when a faction has limited effort.
marsey99 [1404499]
But obviously those safeguards are not enough? Given some factions are still signing up and doing next to nothing :/

There already is a cool down period after a war. A period which is exactly the same for both sides regardless of if you put 0 effort in or spend every moment of the war time stalking and beating your enemies. How is that right?

This was spoken about as an unwanted scenario when the system was still in testing. I was one of the people saying why would you sign up and not take part? Yet now we are seeing a few factions doing it regularly as the current cons are out weighed by the possibility of the pros.

The current 5 day thing is fine. No faction will stick together if a leader keeps queuing up and intentionally losing as there's no rewards for quick losses.

Everything I see about the system is a huge plus. Yes there are a lot of smaller factions signing up. As well as new factions being developed, but not to do nothing. For me this helps break up the focus on the huge factions. With this we'll get back to the way it was in the early days. Factions of all levels fighting each other. More factions are being developed, more caches are coming into the system. And with more caches coming into the system the value of caches and weapons will drop. Especially as factions move up into higher tiers and higher caches drop.

Its still early and I don't see any need to try to curb it now.

Not to mention discouraging factions from participating in a system that needs high faction participation to work is effectively shooting your own foot. Not getting a cache is penalty enough for low participation.

i agree, though I do think a penalty needs to be applied to gross imbalance of participation. If the problem is that people think they are gonna get free stuff for doing nothing and Q up specifically to lose they should get nothing at all, agreed.

Really all they need to do is look at how people are trying to work the system and just correct it by a reward / penalty system.

They want to Q and loose on purpose, so the fight takes 15 minutes cause the 2 factions worked out who was going to win, then the losing faction should have to wait the base time to reQ plus a percentage of the participation difference. If grp A has zero activity and the other has 100% then the one with 100% gets all the stuff but the one that lost wouldn't be able to Q for up to 2x as long. Simple math really.
marsey99 [1404499]
@fisty I don't think it does discourage them enough. They make a few hits, get the war bonus for them and then bend over for the rest of the war. Idk how much they need to fight for a cache but even if they don't get one they still get bonus points and respect at the end.

They rinse and repeat every week, doing less/more to find out how little they need to get a cache and just profit. Plus the couple who are active work towards the respect earned merits cheaply.

Now let's look at it from the other side. Something @rain seems to get. Say you're in a war against them I just spoke about. You spend time and money getting spies. Stocking the Armoury, making strats on what groups should attack which big hitters. Who uses what temps. Get medics lined up for reviving. Then nothing. 1 or 2 fight back. You have an ampped up faction chopping at the bit and they are all in hospital in 5 minutes. You then sit around playing whack a mole for 3 or 4 hours.

Then to top it off you have to wait another week to try again, just like them. Who did next to nothing.

I think the cool down should be spread based on activity. There's 10 days of cool down. You one faction does 10% (for argument sake) of the activity they should get like 90% of that cool down. While the side most active should get less and be able to get into a real war again sooner.

Would like to see no cool down. Give more choices to the players playing, not limit the decisions and tempo folks would like to play at.

But maybe there's a behind the scenes reason for the cooldown? Prevent any unforeseen bugs/issues from drastically going out of control, preventing massive lag with the new system's release (like at Halloween), or something similar? Just playing devil's advocate.

If it's 3 days max then the winner should get to insta Re-Q

If you don't want penalties then give rewards, you don't want to be held accountable for having poor sportsmanship, then reward the team that did.

Also, for the guys that like to hire help before they Q up, how about we just make a simple rule that you have to have 30 consecutive days in a faction before you can participate in any kind of ranked anything with that faction, not just wars if anything new comes up.

Bottom line, if it's a competition that's ranked, EVERYTHING must have boundaries to ensure fairness. Why do you think there are so many restrictions, drug testing, rules, officials literally watching slow motion footage, gear inspections, and on and on in the olympics? If someone finds a way to game the system, then it is up to the developers (with the help of community suggestions) to figure out how to create barriers in the code that may not necessarily restrict a style of gameplay, but rather highly incentivise players to play the game the way it was meant to be played. Hiring help distorts and undermines the real power, competitiveness, organization, and activity level of the faction(s) they are helping.
