Does anyone here suffer from one? I have an addiction that has been apart of my life for a long time, gave it up for 2 months then relapsed hard.

I was addicted to alcohol and smoking awhile back. Gave up both to devote more time to my wife and friends. I didn't like the path I was headed and realized both were just crutches to make me feel better …

I see a lot of people recommending therapy and I don't remember success stories. Care to share any you know about?
As to reply to the thread: I don't have any use addictions.

I didn't like the path I was headed and realized both were just crutches to make me feel better temporarily through life's hardships. I'm not gonna lie, it was one of the toughest decisions and physical battles I've ever went through. At the time I was also running several businesses and working odd hours (16 hour shifts) alongside being on here constantly. You have to know what you're fighting for and admit you have problem. That's the first step. After that, surround yourself with people who will support your fight.
I'm the happiest I've been in a long time now. I was retired but recently went back to school out of boredom and I'm currently enjoy my studies, found an internship I enjoy. Hell, I even have possible plans of moving to South Korea soon.
My point is... Don't waste your body and money on temporary happiness. If you need help with any addictions, please reach out. People care about you.

I have battled addiction for awhile and still do. I have snorted coke, meth, ritlan, dexedrine. heroin, I smoked some then I injected some. it ended up with an armed robbery at a pharmacy. that was 2015, I did 4 yrs in jail, got on methadone and have stayed of everything else but I smoke an ounce of weed every 2 weeks, I now have a simple life without all the crazy shit I was dealing with. this is super condensed version.
Porn addiction, almost got over it early 2020 but then the lockdown happen.
Video games. I will never give them up either, these have been there for me my whole life where friends have not,
I'm still able to balance my home life and work while fitting in some time for Xbox as I've been able to find purpose in my life, however I used to be a teenage shut in by locking myself in a room and playing flat out from my waking moment to whatever late hour Id burn out at. All that to get that small high from unlocking an achievement or completing a game.
Caffeine. I become dull, unfocussed and twitchy if I dont have a coffee at regular intervals.

My mum was an alcoholic and died as an alcoholic alone and burnt bridges to everyone around her. I had to deal with it all and I got her so close to being back on the straight and narrow but she just couldn’t quite give it up.
Addiction is a real thing and if you need anyone to hear your voice and struggles flick me a message man!

you poor bastard ha
to stop an addiction you have to change your environment (not easy I know).
the more you understand about addiction the better you will be able to overcome come it.
dr Gabor Mate gives incredible lectures on this or youz can read his book.
hope all of youz can overcome your addictions.

Nicotine and sugar. Gave up both.
Had a pretty serious speed addiction for almost 4 years.
Ended up moving across the country and choosing to be homeless over trying to struggle through it in an environment that enabled me.
Now I just stick to psychedelics.

I used to spend about 2k a month of oxycodone (thankfully this was before the fentanyl shit)
been off it for like 5 years with the help of Kratom and even then I’ve quit that for a month or so at a time

Chain Smoker here .. and that what will kill me one day...
AA/NA, if you can get past the religious aspects. If not there is Dharma recovery. The biggest thing is you have to be ready to do it for you.
Weed , Alcohol , Sex /Porn , Videogames
