Posting here from instructions on the wiki FAQ.

Basically title, referred my buddy https://www.torn.com/profiles.php?XID=2752446 and didn't get any notification/doesnt show in my referrals. He only typed my username, no code along with it. He's the 4th i've referred but the 1st to like the game, so im really looking forward to the perks i get. He will vouch for me, and his account is only a day old

Hello @Cloudjumper. I was referred by my buddy @RangerRick here.
I typed his name 'rangerrick' into the referral box, though I assume i should have put his ID or something.
Please let me know if you want any more info or need anything else.
