I feel there should be a check box for people who do not regularly check forums, but want notifications if possible.
Kind of like the following tab, but make it where they can select a box that will send an event notification or something along those lines. Maybe a notification in the forums tab , even. Just something.

Not sure about notifications but it would be awesome to have a widget on the home page that shows forum updates.
We have events, messages, attacks and all sorts of stuff but nothing to do with the forums.
My biggest objection to this is that if I see my forum updates before I train, do crimes, etc, I might forget them altogether. ;)
Don't read too much into it. My criteria for adding friends is pretty much either "this person buys a lot of stuff from me" or "this person isn't an insufferable twat"
No. More like how the event notification turns green, of crimes button turns green. I think it would be a summons addition if maybe they turned the forum button green to show some sort of interaction with a post. Especially for those of us who do not regularly go into forums, but occasionally comment on something interesting but forget about it
