I've discovered a small programming goof with blackjack.

When a person splits in blackjack, both hands should be played against the same Dealer hand. So if you have a pair of 8s, you split, one hand is 18, the other is 17...and the dealer has a 10 showing...if the dealer flips over a 6, BOTH hands should win.

The way it's programmed, the first hand goes against that 16...and a new second card is drawn for the second hand. That's not how Blackjack is played.

It did take a bit of digging and research, but you are correct, the dealer should never split like that. If the dealer splitting was intentional though, I'd imagine it's chalked up to "something something Leslie something something poor business practices".

If what Cray says is true, good luck having that changed. The whole point of the casino is to cycle people back into buying more DPs, not for players to make money.
