I just did 10 spies on Vulpes, and I will say that I was thinking I really need to up my game positively impressed.
Apparently I was subcontracted - I thought this fight was going to be between The Iron Fist and Vulpes, lol. Maybe some other time. XD

To a large extent i completely agree with you, not too sure if the changes HOF advocated for have been rolled out as yet however.
If we consider what many think is the current TRUE HOF ranking then as you rightfully said something as simple as a faction 1 rank above you is an impassable bridge for many. At the very top we have NS/M who depending on their rosters and availability can be a complete mismatch or a close war.
Then we have PT/JFK who are close in regards to stats with each other and can be a fairly close match up depending on activity and start time. However neither of us can be considered a close match for NS/M (with their optimal roster)
Stat wise CR arent a top end match for PT/JFK but they have a seriously strong and active upper mid core that gives them the ability to punch above their weight.
TLDR: the strength disparity between 1 rank position at the very top is in itself a mismatch. Factions in the top 15-20 will generally be fighting mismatched wars regardless of if their opponent is as little as 1 rank position away.

I’m being a bit flippant of course. We’ll have to see how it goes. But the pyramid system (even with or without your letter to Ched and whether he implemented it) may potentially lead to some unintended consequences. Anyway let’s see the data - it’s still early days.
