Is there any point or advantage to staying married to the same person after the 2000 day award? Of course I understand there's the advantage of sharing housing. However, after 2000 days if you're trying for awards/merits would it be more beneficial to divorce and marry someone else?
Is there a chance there might be more marriage awards/merits in the future?

more "days spent married" kind of merits no, i've read Ched isn't too happy of the whole being married with inactives thing so i'd say it won't happen. more merits where the two players have to do something together, who knows.

If your partner is active and take a share in the upkeep of the property, keep him.
Othwise i'd look for someone else, probably taking in a new faction member who has no PI on his own.

Also, since it takes so long to get all the Merits i can't image they'll add more to that...

If you and your partner has been active in Torn for over 2,000 days, I'd imagine you'd have developed some serious bonds you won;t be able to get elsewhere in this game. That's a valuable resource.

If your partner's inactive, then, I don't see why you shouldn't divorce him/her and marry another player who can preferably contribute more to your enjoyment instead.

The advantage of staying with the same person is, I suppose, being married to someone you want to be married to.

I'm not aware of benefits to be gained from divorcing and marrying someone else (there are no merits for that), unless, of course, there's someone else you'd rather be married to. There's the "Deadly Duo" merit to be gained by attacking and defeating someone with your spouse, but if your current spouse is active and wants to go for it, there's no need to divorce them and marry someone else to get that merit.
