Hi all. I've been playing Texas Hold'em for the better part of 12-15 years online, on smartphone apps when they came out, etc. Here are a few things I've noticed.
Poker observations:
Joining tables needs a new interface altogether. It needs to be really easy to see what tables have what big/small blinds, and max buy-in amounts.
***seeing a max buy-in amount is an easy way for a person new to poker to see how much of their total net worth they're playing with.***
With the way it's currently set up, it can be very confusing on even where the menu is. Maybe show tables that have an obvious increase in "regalness/expensiveness" (plain poker table, fancy poker table, silver poker table, gold poker table, etc). take a look at something like the DH Texas Poker app's interface. Very easy to see.
There needs to be more tables for each price group. Oftentimes, 90% of the price bracket tables are 0/9, while a select few are constantly at 9/9 and impossible to get into, which will INSTANTLY drive a curious player into leaving and abandoning it altogether. Sometimes even permanently. A bad impression lives a long life. There need to be multiple tables, especially in the price brackets that are constantly full. Hopefully you have the data showing which tables are constantly at max capacity and which are basically never used.
It's very important to capture the "never played / beginner but curious" audience. Many people are interested in poker but it feels unapproachable, especially in Torn.
Audio/sound needs to be on by default - i have played poker on Torn many times and never saw that it had sound - that was one of the first things I started writing about. So many people play poker as a secondary activity whilst doing something else.
