Good timing. Just last week Chedburn asked me to work up some new education ideas to add to the ones we already have - a revamp of the existing educations isn't on the cards, but we will definitely be adding new ones.

I've already started looking at areas that aren't covered by the present education system, and Chedburn has put together a document for me that includes some of the best player suggestions from years gone by, but if there are any good ideas in this thread I'll make sure to include them too. So yeah, feel free to throw out your thoughts on what's missing from education at the moment, and I'll see if I can work them into my proposals.

An education solely for crimes where the final one provides a 50-100% boost to crimes payouts.

Another that takes 1 year that provides boosts to OC's in the form of success rate. Can be an entirely faction related branch, 5% boost to respect in the form of hits, etc.

One that increases damage like the faction tree does + something that mitigates damage.

A travelling one that the final edu either cuts traveling time by a set amount or gives +5 items upon finishing.

A branch that provides bonuses to drug effects/drug cooldown reduction/addiction mitigation/reduced rehab costs. “Pharmaceutical Science” maybe?

First one doesn't really make sense for a school, travel EDU would be cool tho and give more reasons to get in the air besides running, rehabbing and events.

I'd like to see an Investment Education block that makes 7 day stock blocks pay out in 6 days and 30 day blocks in 25, with the Bachelors increasing bank investment ROI or raising the cap similar to how the oil rig does.

Engineering EDU that lets you take certain useless items like elephant statues and craft them into temp items like grenades perhaps? This one might be too big a project though since it would require a small overhaul of the item system.

Marketing EDU that will add priority to your items over others at the same price in the item/points market and get rid of the market fee, maybe reduce ad costs as well.

I think going to school to learn how to profit off your crimes better makes sense to me.

The investment education is a good idea though.

Masters class. Where your job points are doubled daily.

Racing. A series of classes gaining racing skill and ending with special car only available to class finishers.

Refresher courses. Take last class of existing courses and get extra gains from each.

Theology. Series resulting in something actually happens when you pray at church. Let it be rpg. Nerve, Energy, Happy or some other nebulous factor like CE.

Pilots license, honestly in general there are so many possibilities for travel stuff that could impact flight times of different flights, carry capacity, hunting which is currently by far the lowest $ per E activity openning up a lot of possibilities there, ability to use drugs overseas etc. Travel systems been kinda neglected.

The best change to traveling would be online casino access but we know ched wouldn't do that as most of torn has already asked.

The should also be something repeatable/ long term for people that have finished.

There could be cool crime options but we have no idea what's coming.

a good way to make flying better would just be to allow you to fill some of your carrying capacity with items before you leave, would open warring up to more interesting strats around flying with a stack, some medical items and a xan or vic and be able to actually stick around making hits. Flying from destination to destination outside of Torn would also help to this end and both of these changes would make warring at the mid-high end much more interesting and strategic

Also if it allowed 1 drug from some edu that helps you smuggle like "Why TSA doesn't work" course xD then people going for normal running could carry the drug that gets you out of the hosp instead. That'd make it useful, could do that instead of med items.

Yo that's so funny.. I was just thinking..I always here comment about marriage not really providing any incentivers to have an active spouse, and having to be stuck with inactive for merit reasons. I was like this is the perfect time to introduce new benefits/incentives would be through SEXUAL EDUCATION!!!

Just in time to make people redo their merit trees so they can have education length added again.

Looking back on my education guide I feel like outside of just adding new courses, the final perks of some of the courses we already have should be adjusted. General Education has a lot of 'general' things that make sense, but the final product at its best is only worth 271 Manual, 734 Intelligence, and 290 Endurance, depreciating for each class the player takes without the benefit. The way the Psychology degree makes it useful in the short term, but in the late game makes it practically useless. Better attacks when you are unarmed via the self-defense courses is really only useful in two specific situations: getting 1000 finishing hits with an unarmed attack, and missions that require one to use only unarmed hits.

In a perfect world, I would add to General Education's final bachelor to give a small gain to working stats gained daily. This would be the sort of thing that would be barely worth it in the beginning, yet would add up significantly over time. Self Defense would allow an individual to gain experience with their fists and kicks, which would be absolutely useless but would ALSO, completely unironically, encourage more people to use their fists and kicks as they pushed them to 100% for bragging rights. Psychology degrees boost to criminal success could easily just be applied in a way that it, and only it, can be added over the cap, making it useful at 50 NNB and beyond.

I personally HATE that Health and Fitness Bachelor. It is far more destructive for play than it is helpful. If someone is trying to escape from me, and they fail, I only get a free defend, not a free escape. I'd change it entirely, to something more fitting to Health and Fitness and the passives found in the course - for example, put that 25% bonus to hit into the FIRST hit when someone tries to attack me. Not game breaking, but hits them before they have a chance to try to run... and if they do run, hey, I still get my escape +1.

I think your forgetting the have updated the education system . They added the ability to use blood bags and took away dual wields so your entire post is now invalid. Please update to say has had minor changes.
