The problem persisted even after the fix was pushed. I tried clearing my cache and everything he recommended. Some chat boxes seem to work at times and others just keep defaulting to the oldest part of the conversation.
Some even start in the middle of the conversations, about half way scrolled down.
Funny part, it's back to doing that again. Now, I haven't closed my browser at all since its been fixed. I havent cleared any caches..etc. Just randomly started doing it again.
Just like when it was fixed all of a sudden this morning, my browser was open 24/7 beforehand. So there has been zero changes on my end, that I control, I would think? Unless I'm missing something?
I am periodically seeing the same issue... seems more prevalent on mobile for me, but i have see it on desktop (edge latest build) too. I haven't found any specific action that was causing it myself and can't seem to reproduce it on command or anything like that.
When I open the chat box from the people menu in the lower right, it comes up weird.. either at the oldest part of the convo or even half way scrolled through.
But, if I dont scroll down after opening the chat box and just minimize it (not "X" it out) and then maximize it, it reverts to the newest part of the convo like normal.
This is a known issue with name change. Dima has confirmed in this report that this will be addressed in Chat rework. For now, both of you will have to close the chat boxes on your respective ends. It is unrelated to the issue mentioned in the original post, please file your own bug report if you have a new issue unrelated to the original topics.
