No this makes no sense. When your target is unconscious you just grab every single penny you can find on them and run. And in bazaars, what you do when you buy mug is:
You clutch your gun, loaded, in your hand. You hand the money to the owner. Before they notice, you take out your gun and fired, the owner falls to the ground, bills flying everywhere.

This permanently adds a chance of fail to this activity, which to me shouldnt have 100% success-rate to it anyways, nothing in the game has 100% success rate, why should it? Leave/hosp seems like a fair reward for winning the fight to whom-ever.

Keep in mind that this still has a system for a 12 hour mug protection within the last mug on the person, as well as the fact that the reward is based purely on the other player having money on hand, you get nothing after all if they don't. I feel like if you feel it is fair for hosping someone and leaving someone is fine because since you beat them, you can put them in the hospital, then you can do the same, but have a chance for it to pay off with money, or maybe not and not get as much XP.

Option B that you highlighted I feel has no place in the attacking aspect of the game. in trying to "balance" the current system, I feel adding this option adds another, if not even bigger change and allows for more unfair advantages to fighting + stats with the weigh in of CE.

Option C is just way to much protection.... period. Why would you mug anyways? If people were upset about some "mug nerfs" previously, this would literally kill off mugging as a whole in my opinion. Devs have already stated before opposing to such protections in the game, there has to be a point where we draw the line as to how safe a player can be already, no matter their status, level, or age in the game.

You know, actually, I'm glad you pointed out that little snippet from the original post.
nothing in the game has 100% success rate
This is wildly inaccurate. It's not that nothing in the game has a 100% success rate, it's that you don't notice the things that don't fail because they don't fail. Imagine if you could OD on alcohol. Or if an EDVD "failed". If you could fumble reloading your gun. These actions/items succeeding is guaranteed. They have a 100% success rate. Even Poison mistletoe, which can hurt a player pretty bad. SED's, Horse Heads, cans, hell even dividends from stocks. Imagine if stock BB's could just not pay out. You go to redeem it and it just says "The Torn City Health System has decided to payout $0 in dividends" and you don't get your med crate. There's a lot in Torn that's technically guaranteed, it just goes unnoticed because it's guaranteed.

Good points, good points, pardon choice of words :P

I agree option C is a no-go, just threw it out there.

thanks for participating in the topic :)

Put items on your Bazzar, Self Hosp w Revives off, Profit, Ghost Trade.

Otherwise pray you are fast, Mugging is what makes the game exciting for both parties.

Personally I think we are protected enough especially with job perks offering hard nerfs to mugging already.

buymugging seems unfair to you because you are wilfully ignoring the steps you can take to protect yourself, you list some of them right in your message and then just say "I don't like this, if anyone does this they're just smartasses" and carry on like they don't exist anyway. As I'm writing this your bazaar is open, you're outside of the hosp and offline with last action 6 minutes ago. How hard would it have been to take a bad blood bag and ensure your revs are off? For those of us who do it it generally takes 10 seconds at most.

Buymugging (and standard mugging) is not unfair because it to an extent embodies the "crime game" element of this crime game. It's not just NPCs you commit crimes against, it's actual people. The fact that you only get 5-15% of cash on hand from a mug and the rest gets 24h decaying protection is your fairness rule. If the game becomes too easy to play through without learning the protection mechanics no one is incentivised to learn them.

Option A doesn't work because if mugging doesn't gain you any CE the mugging option becomes a complete waste outside of buy-mugging. If the argument is that mugging is a crime and crimes cost nerve, I'm pretty sure stabbing and shooting people is also a crime so now the attack itself needs to cost nerve but mugging does not because it would get lumped in with the assault charge anyway. Option B makes even less sense because to an extent you can pay to speed up your gym gains to catch up to the bigger players but CE is so much slower to earn (especially if your booster cooldown is going to cans, FHCs and SEs to catch up in stats in the first place) that when you get there the older accounts that you may finally outstat will still out-CE you. In the meantime the entire argument is about old players mugging new players so this does nothing in that regard. Option C is just unnecessary given that you have the tools at your disposal to protect yourself in those situations, and especially given that bazaars aren't cheap for new players one can easily assume that people with bazaars have had sufficient chance to learn the mechanics.

Perhaps I'm just too entrenched in the methods I learned early on, I'm just struggling to see the value in encouraging players to not care about their own cash enough to learn how to protect it. I won't R- since the thread doesn't seem to be getting popular as it is but I do strongly disagree here.

Nah chief, this ain't it.

Mugging has already been nerfed significantly over the years and the only consolation we've gotten is billion dollar+ RW plunder weapons; which doesn't hardly make up for any of the nerfs (mug merit %, 12 hour mug protection unless onhand change, 75% reduced mugging via clothing store, 15 second travel landing leeway, etc etc).

There's countless ways to protect your money and income. No matter how long another player has been around or how strong they are, they can't take that aspect of the game from you. Get guud or get mugged. Its a competitive game.
