The State of Missouri has had a law in place for decades, with a contingent date of effect. One of those contingencies was the reversal of Roe V Wade.
Yesterday, that law took effect. Abortion is banned completely now in Missouri except for medical emergencies.

In case of a violation of this law only the doctor who performed the procedure will be prosecuted. A class B felony. The women in these cases are safe from arrest or prosecution.
Seems fair to me. Punish the doctor not the patient.

this just now. Most of these states already have laws that were being blocked, now that blockage is gone.

Now I imagine this is going to be a legal nightmare for when abortion pill access gets expanded. If a doctor prescribing said pill resides in another state, did they actually break the law?
"Fair" is letting people make their own medical decisions, not having state law impose a choice on them.
There is going to be so much legal shit from a lot of recent SC decisions that make enforcing those decisions impossible.
Lots of people in this country don't want one country, and don't understand states rights enough, to really consider what's about to happen, the downsides of restricting this freedom, the hypocrisy of the gun argument ( making guns illegal won't stop them....yet they think making abortions will stop them).
Unfortunately, their wives, daughters, and sisters will have to die, know someone who died, etc for their opinion to change. And then we will be right back to 1979, where a lot of them are begging to allow abortions again. In the mean time a lot of people are going to suffer in various ways.
It seems like New York and California are gonna be open for abortion tourism soon. I'm for sure they will be providing abortions for a while yet.

That is flawed form the start. In the USA we have buses that travel all over the place. Although they are slow and uncomfortable, they transport people with great efficiency. Depending on where you are at, the maximum time spent on a bus including stops or transfers is about 36 hours.
Is there some reason women can't use these buses?
It seems to me that travel outside the state is realistic, so none of those tragedies you mentioned have to happen.
