Torn City Tea Party - 10/09/08
Recently there has been a major uproar at city hall. The mayor's office has been picketed by citizens demanding, "Free Tea." This reporter was definitely confused since usually coffee and mountain dew were the drinks of choice for the citizens of Torn City. One of the protestors sat down to inform the Torn City Times that they were not wanting free drinks but rather an immediate release of citizen; Tea [32013] a rather famous banker in the city, by all accounts the largest banker in the city who was managing over 230 billion in investments. At the time of his arrest he was in the Stock Market Building buying stocks as some investors reinvested money with him. Whether or not the uproar was due to the fact that Tea was arrested or the fact that so many Torn City citizens have investments with him is unknown at this point in time.
Sources have said that the fortunes of some of the largest factions in Torn City were being laundered and invested through Tea. Though the sources are not in agreement as to why the arrest happened, some say his arrest was politically motivated as a way to slow down factions; HT and HT-International by removing their war chest funding, as they were one of the largest investors. And at the time, they were warring a faction filled with Torn City officials. Some say that Tea poked a bear with a stick and the bear retaliated. Some say that the arrest was based on the fact that recent changes in the stock market made it so that if you had enough money you could manipulate the market and always gain, causing massive inflation in the city. Tea was said to have promised 1% per day interest, far higher than the paltry sums given at the bank. Some say it was due to Tea having Asian mafia connections.
Of the protesters, over 100 citizens gathered to demand justice. These citizens believe that city officials are acting knowingly; using personal bias to determine the law. HT-Supermikk has requested that the Mayor himself devise an investigation into the process in which citizens are placed under arrest for an extended period of time and or resulting in deportation. Additionally, HT-Supermikk has also requested that the money lost in Tea's arrest not be handled in accordance to the law because it effects more than a few citizens and totals at least 230 billion dollars. HT-Supermikk is still awaiting an answer from the Mayor in regards to the investigation. In the city center, many have fought for an exception because of the amount of money lost while others are fighting for the money to not be touched or returned what so ever.
One thing is for certain; Torn City officials are taking the matter seriously. Crowd control has been sending any public discussions to the graveyard and trying to keep the matter quiet, but when 230 billion of other people's money is involved it tends not to stay quiet for too long. It has been said that the top investigator at city hall has been assigned to the case. is0lati0n has been known to be a fair man in the past and citizens hope that a verdict will soon be reached as some have been seen plunging out of their high rise windows and taking their own lives. Some even claim that this is worse than an actual stock market crash.
