First:Increase private island vault capacity to 5B
Average player net worth has likely gone up considerably since vaults were introduced. Additionally, with the introduction of weapon/armor caches, players are spending more money on items. Vault capacities should be increased to better accommodate these changes over time.
I propose to increase vault sizes as follows:
Small 100M -----> 300M Medium 300M ----> 700 M Large 500M------> 1B Extra Large 1B ---------> 2B
Faction and Company vaults are infinite. You can also store infinite money in points/DPs/stocks with additional risk. Why are private island vaults capped at comparably measly 1B?
I could see some downsides with multis allowing more money go into the personal vaults, but I like the idea of a higher vault amount overall. I also like that you pointed out the added risk of sharing at a higher amount. While I also feel it doesn't make much sense on one side to increase this because of the other (more lucrative) places to put your money (bank / caymans)
The idea that popped up when I read your post was, if not making the "extra large" vault have the ability to store more money maybe adding a new vault to follow the lines of company size more closely. We could be given the option for, say, a 3b vault, "the Huge Vault." Costing somewhere along the lines of 300-350m and giving 150 happy. That cost would like up close to the upgrade costs now and happy increases, along with still maintaining the 4x increase of cost over a castle upgraded. The 3b would give each person sharing the vault 1.5b worth of space, or a single person would have 3b worth of space. That would/ could follow the line of bank investment cap (I think that's 3b?). Then flattening the upkeep total to like 400k for fully upgraded.
The Wiki says the XL vault is a " fairly new addition," so that would make me think they've done this before - and could give a nice refresh to PI's with a new goal to achieve without being a ground-breaking new change.
I like the idea, when Torn started 2bn was a massive amount, but now with stocks and weapons selling for far beyond this it isnt really.
Yes you could store it in a company if you want to buy a company and have all the downsides to running it like nerfs and company hackers (unless you buy the stocks to stop it, which cost a few billion)
Yes you could store it in a faction and watch someone scam it as we have already seen too many times this year.
So it makes sense to have vaults of infinite capacity but doubling a vault for two users vs one is where we draw the line? It's not an actual physical space so physics don't apply.
If you're looking at it that way though, an option to buy an extra vault on a shared island so each person can have the same space as one person would on a solo island.
Right, that's fair. Going with that, why not make extra vault space available for a shared island? As long as the island has two people in it, give an option to purchase extra vault capacity.
If the spouse wants to move out, they can steal all the money before they go or leave it all or somewhere in between, same as now.
If a spouse leaves an island with a double vault, the island is immediately reduced to a single vault and the cost of the additional vault space is refunded to the owner via cashier's check. Any balance in the vault over the new limit is also removed from the vault and refunded the same way.
Maybe basing this suggestion on the way inflation has happened in-game, ie average networth now versus years ago when vaults were first rolled out. Something that justifies this as re-balancing instead of just whining about it being hard to store money. As it stands now, R- suggestion here. There are faction vaults, company vaults, ghost trades, stocks, items, points... loads of workarounds. I doubt many people are sitting around with more than 1b in cash that they need to store that don't also have easy access to one of those money storage systems.
I think a lot of people will agree with you. I still think vault capacities need to be increased, but it is probably best practice to not include multiple changes in the same suggestion anyways. I may propose an incentive to sharing in a separate thread, but I've changed this one to focus only on vault capacity.
