I have looked on internet and cant find a comprehensive explanation of exactly what this buff (purchased with merit points) does or how it works. Does it make your work stats grow faster? Or is an additional stat?

I assume it is only of any benefit if you are working for a private company, and not as the director? Or is it the other way around, only a buff for the director?

As a new player is this something to consider or is it a low priority branch?

When you work in a private company you'll be able to see your employee effectiveness (EE.) The merits increase it by one for each merit. Higher EE helps your company gains sales and in turn stars and bonuses.

In my opinion, it is not something you should put merits into until later in the game, if ever.

My account is almost legal irl and it's still not really worth it for me to put merits in effectiveness. A lot of employers will tell everyone to put merits in that just ignore em

Nah thing is end game doesnt need put EE as most of them are sitting on 150k-200k perstat. New players actually do IF they are being very picky in which company they want to work on/in (idk which one is the right one for this sentence) such as new players who only wanna work in adult novelties 10* to do hj, or new players who want to make money by working in 10* lingerie, etc.
If new players have networth under 1b, then perhaps investing merits in EE worth morethan say ce, passive stat, awareness, or even banking if the nw too low.

I agree, definitely not end game, but not a brand new player either. Op is 2 says old and still in a city job. By "later in the game," I mean after a year or two of playing.

Those merits have the potential to make someone that normally wouldn't be considered for a certain job a viable employee, but the merits wont work miracles. He still needs some time to build up those base working stats, as well as some time developing his play style and learning what companies and specials will benefit that play style.

The thing with EE is the more WS you have the more efficient it is as the more WS you get it gets exponentially harder (based on base job reqs for your job) to get an extra effectiveness point whereas if you are relatively low-statted you can gain a lot of EE by just buying trains, but EE is not necessarily better in the endgame as in endgame you already have that high effectiveness so you don't NEED to put merit in EE but if you do you will have SUPER high effectiveness. But I personally have some merit in EE and EE is my next thing I want to upgrade (to 7) because I want to be qualified for 10* AN for big happy jumps

What everyone above said is true.

lets say your work stats are just at the level of requirement for the job you are looking for that is 90 efficiency…

job needs 4000 MAN and 2000 END

you have 4000 MAN and 2000 END

your effectiveness is 90

from here every doubling of a stat will give you +5 effectiveness.

eg: 8000/2000 = 4000/4000 = 95% effectiveness

for every doubling +5 is added…

so the EE merit can instantly work as doubling your stats.
(Imagine doubling a 200k work stat with just 15 merits)
it is useful at all levels, imo. (I would suggest go for 5-7/10 merits)

if you have no stats and want to join in a company then also having some effectiveness will definitely help you find a better star company and gives you less reason for your director to kick you when he finds a similar person to you without EE merits.

at mid level, you will definitely be able to find 10* companies compared to people around you without merits.

at end game, as others told you it is very hard to increase effectiveness even by one point at that time EE can make a difference of 1-2mil pay per day.

it is certainly not the first one to pick but when your education is done, other than bank and addiction mitigation… this would be a good thing if you are keen on getting into companies with preferences.

all the best.

Yes this exactly what I was asking.

I guess it always helps to be super specific, when I reference newer player - I mean how do you think your first 5 or 8 merit points should be spent.

Just wanted to understand all my options.

Thanks for feedback, is now clear to me what perk does and when it becomes sensible option.

As a new player, you'd go farther by investing in education length reduction early. Employee Effectiveness will come to be useful at a certain point in your life; when your stats is in the thousands and you need that little extra edge over other potential employees. Or maybe you want to help a friend reach higher stars with their company.

Employee Effectiveness is not useless, just like a lot of the features in this game,
JackKelly [2271177]
I agree with Travalgar above about education length reduction being the first focus for your merits. Knocking out those education courses are beneficial no matter what play style you decide on.

Also, just to let you know, usually every Christmas or New Years (can't remember which) the game gifts everyone a free merit reset. So that may take some of the pressure of, in case you're having trouble deciding on where to place your merits.
