What do you think, can dreams tell you something about yourself, are they random, have you seen a dream that has actually predicted something that happened later to you or someone else you know? Do you see dreams at all? Want to share some here?
I see very lively and imaginary dreams. Sometimes I'm confused how my brain can even make up that stuff. I also see dead people in my dreams, but I can't talk to them, or they won't answer.
Other than a lucid dream. The strangest thing I've had happen with a dream is. Before I knew I was getting a divorce. I had a dream that I had found my ex in a crowd of people. But when I faced her in the dream it was like we were complete strangers and didn't know each other.
Kind of like when you see the back of someones head in public and think you know who it is. But they turn around and it's not who you think it is. Except I knew who it was in the dream but when I got close enough to hold a conversation. We no longer knew who the other person was.
in the sense that dreams give us visions and visions give us motivation, motivation gives us drive. its like the internet, we all looking for the same thing. freedom
Yes, the brain really is complex, in structure and function. So I guess it's no wonder that our dreams are beyond our understanding. I would like to know the psychology of dreams but I think it's not so well known subject?

This is provided you know how to interpret your dreams. I'm not so sure we can, if anything I know I cannot. At least nowhere near always. But even if I think I can explain one, there's no way of knowing if your interpretation is right. I'm not sure what you mean with the comparison with the internet, perhaps you can elaborate some more?
I think dreams are a way the brain found to entertain us while he does all the processing of the day. As you may know we sleep so our brain can store all the information we obtained during the day, thats why studying, and other mental activities seem to get us more tired that the physical ones. But while it does that sorting and storing of the information it enters in some sort of stand by mode. Dreams are like music in a lift. Something to entertain us and distract us from all the hardwork being made in the background. And since dreams are being made by our brain, it uses material that it has in its archive. Sometimes there is a pending issue that left you worried or anxious and the brain will use it to see if you can sort the matter or deal with the fear. It's a less exoteric aproach on the matter of dreams, although I think dreams are a lot more complex than this and certainly have some sort of hidden meaning. Cheers ;)
That's an interesting way to look at it. I feel that there is a more complex part of dreams also like you said. Or who knows, if the dreams we see in the beginning of the night are like lift music, and the ones closer to morning have a more complex meaning?
Your comment actually gave me a new perspective on nightmares, and also an idea of visualizing nightmares' endings with a solution or better ending - who knows if that habit comes to my dreams some night.
"And since dreams are being made by our brain, it uses material that it has in its archive." Do you think all the faces we see in our dreams are seen in real life before?
Well, about the faces we see in our dreams, there is an interesting study about that, it is said that the faces we see are either people we see on our everyday life or, if our brain has the need to dissociate us from the person, it makes a composite face made out of multiple people's features. Like a Lego face in which every aspect is being picked and connected in order to create a new face. It is really weird, but the brain goes to all that trouble so you don't distract yourself from the main purpose of the dream with some familiar/friendly face. I also believe, now it's me talking out of my head and not based on any study, that the brain must do that in last resort because we see millions of faces (in real life and on the internet), some of them are familiar other are just some faces that casually cross our sight (an old woman crossing the sidewalk, a kid playing football, or some character we see in a tv show while zapping). These faces will not be imprinted in our mind, but we saw them, and some of their features or all of them were recorded by our brain. If they need some generic old woman to populate our dream, it'll use the old woman you saw, if they need a kid, it'll use the kid you saw, and so on... Dreams are complex, and sometimes they make no sense what so ever (I see you miss goats in your basement ;P) but the study of dreams is certainly one of the most interesting sciences in the modern era.
A face generator.. somehow I'm not surprised that we have also that kind of functioning in our brain. And after all, our brain are really interested about face and their expressions - they analyze people's feelings way more faster than one could imagine!
I agree with you, dreams are indeed such a fascinating research topic. I'm looking forward to read some findings about dreams in the future :)
Search this. It's a really interesting and easy to read article about the topic. I'm not going to put the link to it for security reasons, but search those keywords in google and you'll find it.
