What would be the point of immortality if you lose your personality? Any chip can be hacked, your thoughts will never be 100% yours alone again. Just knowing this will completely change you as a person.
Say if the goverments and corps don't enslave you the moment you uploads your consciousness to a machine, how long do you reckon it would take for you to beg for the release of death.
As time goes on you loose any meaning to your humanity, whilst you live forever you will watch the universe create and destroy but you will remain stagnant in the flow of time, surely without death there would be no more reason to preserve anything just to consume as we travel the stars to advance our own needs.
Eventually we will see the end of all things and because we are machines we will try to sustain and cling on for as we can but inevitably we will fade as there will be no more resources bio or cosmic fuel left to keep us going.
All that knowledge for what? To be the last ones left in an empty universe.
