Before Class A, really the best guide to go by is Baldr's Racing FAQ since that goes more in depth about what to do in each class. It goes into the best base cars for each class, as well as what upgrades to get, and how many points to save.

RD's guide is more about what to build once you're in class A.

One thing I couldn't find is when you unlock T2 and T3 upgrades in those forum posts.

Alas, racing is now on the backburner for me as I can fly now and make money, and racing isn't worth anything for some reason..? Explain that one to me please.

lol you are a noob, not sure how you were helping them... look at the linked upgrade spreadsheet in Baldr's FAQ for the upgrade availability. Also I would not give up on racing entirely if you enjoy it. Keep working on getting to class A in solid shape (per Baldr's FAQ again) and then just do overnight Docks races to slowly build skill, you'll be in a good spot then to come back to racing someday.
