ched made it so that you can't earn points while you don't have the points armory
original title was 'allow factions to withdraw points earned from RWs'
I would honestly argue for the removal of that whole branch and have all armories unlocked by default, it doesn't really serve a purpose other than stifling growth. Maybe replace it with dirty bomb upgrades or something.
I actually agree, they should all be unlocked by default. Except the lab maybe? I feel like the points armory only exists for distributing points that were gained from war, because Im not aware of any reason people would want to store their points in the faction vault. Unless I'm missing something completely.
It was soooo fun to go from sending members points for refills during war and them suddenly, with no warning, NOT be able to do that... I feel like this is the kinda thing you give some warning about, even if you do classify it as a bug. (i think this is one bug that should have gone un-squashed!)
There are factions who provide points for point refills for their leadership/council. There are also factions who charge fines for OC delays and such in Points. So there are used beyond just distributing from wars.
Leadership can still distribute the points gained and withdraw them they just cannot be used to refill from the armoury, can send batches of 25 points to people in fac manually tho
I believe he means he wants to be able to use the points gained without having the points storage upgrade.
Personally, I think having factions work like a house works well. You start building the house and you only have a foundation. Grind for respect and build on top the foundation.
I get where you're coming from, but this change means brand new factions will not be able to access their rewarded points for a while. Seems incredibly unfair to put new factions at such a disadvantage. "Here's your reward for playing the game and doing a thing, now before you can use access your reward you must first buy it" This is effectively like locking caches behind a respect pay-wall disguised as an upgrade
If you want to keep the ability for members to donate points behind a paywall, fine. But The how it's worked thus far makes way more sense. you can utilize the points you are rewarded, but you dont have the extra functionality until you unlock an upgrade.
I see no reason why factions shouldn't be able to use the points they are awarded. Either let us use them, or pay out cash instead of points so you aren't penalized for being a new faction trying to start a faction. This puts a barrier to entry that doesn't need to be there..
Or perhaps it's by design, to prevent people starting factions and getting all the benefits without doing anything to earn them?
By your argument, all the armouries should be made available otherwise they're detrimental to the faction. Same as chain lengths, member capacity and territory capacity.
I don't think you understand how it works at all I do not have a points armoury and points are freely accessible it just has to be done manually rather than members being able to use them directly
disagree. factions have to make decisions. that's the point of branches. that's the point of respect upgrades. if you wish to use respect for something else, that's certainly your prerogative. if you want to fully enjoy the spoils of your war, you'll have to bust a couple chains out.
in fact, i'd argue that cache storage and removal should also have to be unlocked.
@python, you currently cannot withdraw points at all unless you have the Points Upgrade. so the points you earn from wars are sitting inside the faction armoury UNTIL you get the Points Upgrade
@chuck 'doing anything to earn them' - the points are gained from wars, so there is an element of effort if you're concerned about that. a more appropriate analogy would be like the bank giving you money for your effort and hard work and then telling you wait im sorry, you need to pay a one-time fee to access it.
all the other armouries do not have a similar mechanism where your rewards are stored inside and you have to unlock them to access your rewards.
well, unless you believe in what scarley said that the cache storage/removal should also be unlocked via respect then.... i guess we can agree to disagree
they WERE freely accessible, until sometime in the last 24 hours. Last night I could send points to any faction member. Today, the radio button "Give Points" is not able to be selected. You can still adjust points using whatever points are in the fault, but you cannot get them out of the vault, without the upgrade.
Checking that seems like something that should go in bugs and issues seems unfair for them to change something like that without warning to allow people to get the points out
Exactly.
This is a pretty significant change to be made with no warning.. A lot of peole I've talked to didn't realize this behavior we'll all been enjoying was a 'bug'.
Because things arent determined to be a bug until Ched says so. Staff was fully aware of this and was a non-issue until now.
I don't know what you're talking about.
You pay a fee to have access to a bank account.
The other armouries come at a cost to unlock them, just like points storage.
You are still getting the rewards from warring. They're just not accessible to you unless/until you unlock the points storage. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
Dont Say it... Dont Say It... Dont Say it
OH NO... YOUR RW POINTS GAIN INCOME!!!
to clarify, the cache armoury is accessible right from the start and you get caches from RWs, so you're able to access the cache rewards, without having to unlock anything.
the other armouries need to be unlocked sure, but your rewards from RW do not go into these armouries. whether they deserve to be respect-gated or not is another discussion to have.
in the past 24 hours or so, they changed the points armoury such that you need to unlock the points armoury, so any points you earn from RW can only be withdrawn after you unlock it.
based on the points above, the most comparable based on RW rewards would be the points and cache armouries. the question to ask is - why the inconsistent behaviour between the points and cache armoury? why does the points armoury require unlocking if the cache armoury is available from the start?
apologies for the poor analogy above, a better and more appropriate analogy would be the company you work for paying you for your work and then telling you you have to pay a one-time fee to access the funds you've earned.
the better analogy is on the city map. if you hold a points racket, you will not accrue points without unlocking the armory. it's been this way as long as i've played i believe. i reckon that whining about it could make rw rewards the same, as devs realize it was an oversight to allow points to be stored without the point storage upgrade unlocked.
