For a new player, I would suggest a starter job like the Grocer and Army which are the best out of the bunch for a new player (found in the newspaper)
The starter job Grocer is rewarding if you stick to it long term. I would save the majority of your job points until you are the top position (Manager) as that unlocks a job special which allows you to steal an energy drink for 25 Grocer points (But use them to promote when you get the stats to do so). Energy drinks sell between 1mil - 3mil depending what energy drink you steal.
Staying in the Grocer's long term is good as 1. You can get money from selling energy cans, a lot better pay than joining a player owned company with your workstats currently.
2. Allows you to build your workstats (The better rank you're in, the more workstats you get daily). So you build better workstats ready for a good player company. (If people ask you to join a 0 - 4 star company I would decline as it only hurts you in the long term.)

Different job specialities cater for different type of gameplays and goals.

Depends on if you need money or energy... an oil rig or tv for money i guess.. candle shop and a few others for energy... alot of different jobs have perks... you'll need a lot better job stats before you will be a good worker for top money though
