When you open the weapon in your items page, there will be a box in the stats titled "Experience". You only gain experience when you deal damage to an opponent. Just hitting them won't count, you have to actually deal damage. And it's a bit of a slow process. Faster than CE, but it can be slower than RS at times.
There are 100 different experience levels, taking approximately 2,000 hits with any weapon to reach the maximum of 100% experience. Experience levels are not linear- earlier levels will be gained faster than later levels. For example, the 1,000 hits required to reach 75% experience is only about halfway to the approximately 2,000 hits it takes to reach 100% experience.
Weapon experience also boosts damage and accuracy. At 100% experience, a weapon will cause approximately 10% more damage and be 10% more accurate.
Say that you have 10% experience does that mean you gain a 1% damage increase at that time or does it not get anything applied until you get all the way to 100%?
I do not know how sub-100% weapon xp maps to damage and accuracy boost, but it absolutely has an effect as you go. i.e. you dont have to wait for 100% - even 1% is better than 0%, although probably not noticably.
Pretty much, at 50% you have half of the bonus applied, so realistically i imagine itd scale 10%=1% dam/0.2 acc

Has anyone noticed that weapon experience doesn't seem to be bumping up anymore. I'm at 93% on JackHammer, with 280 hits left, and it hasn't changed in months, despite a hundred hits where JackHammer was even the finishing blow.
