Your phone's keyboard is using the enter key to enter a new line character instead of hitting the send. If you are using Gboard, or most other keyboards, you will have to press enter key twice to be able to send the message. I believe you can change this behavior in some keyboard's settings so that hitting enter key will always make it send the message.
