For the past 3 days, i have been closely watching a real barnburner of a war. NPO vs SCC. brains against brawn. it was a hell of a war to watch for more than 3 days, and im so happy to see my friends take a strong win!

But i couldnt help but notice the comedy of errors made by SCC. something that appears to be endemic to some of their factions (Hi Rev!)

so i figured id share the template for losing a RW, in case...y'know, anyone wants to learn!

Step 1. pack your faction with greenleafs - Check

Step 2. waste a bonus or two - Check

Step 3. repeat step 2 - check

Step 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 - Check

Step 5. give up at 500 because you went and did steps 2, 3 and 4 again - check

Step 6. finally get a half decent bonus, and then let the chain break - check

Step 6. repeat step 5 (running out of E? guess that happens when you overmatch on fac size because you pack yours with greenleafs) - check

Final step. give up and just let shaz hit by himself - check

A massive effort by NPO to out-class a faction that far out statted them. Your determination is unlike anything ive ever seen from a faction, and your teamwork and coordination is some of the best in torn. you guys crushed this war, and now its time to move on to some actual competition!

Been an absolute treat mercing for NPO, good job and grats on the well deserved win!

Pretty sure the amount of effort and strategy that goes into NPO wars are that of absolute beasts.

Yeah that was wicked, I've been an NPO fan for a while now after seeing them do something we'd all love to do: namely torture PimpChu over an extended period of time.

The Swiss guys are funny though - this is the first time I've ever been taunted for using mela. Looking forward to the next encounter with Brit_T2 where he'll no doubt rip the piss out of me for choosing to use bullets in my guns.

How it started:

Deatvert: Heh. Well, we normally fight unless we think a war is completely unwinnable from the start.
Marcinko: why waste all that E? there are more efficient ways to organise these wars.
Deatvert: Why not? It's fun, gives people something to do, and is generally good practice.
Deatvert: And it's led to us pulling out wins that were unlikely - DE for instance where they had a median BS around 7x our median
Marcinko: right, and you think this is winnable?
Deatvert: Could be. 1-4 people with beast stats isn't unbeatable.
Marcinko: do you speak for the whole NPO family?
Marcinko: were more than capable of merc'ing your whole family so all 3 of you lose this week
Marcinko: shaz1 has the NW alone just for making his life difficulty
Marcinko: personally i think its a waste of E dragging these wars out, when theres better more efficient ways to make money, taking a loss when you can arrange a safe defeat with participation will pay better

There's more to say about the course of the war; the scattering as soon as shaz came online, smashing out chains in the hour or two we had to land bonuses, sending people overseas to extend and drag along those 1k chains. The bad bloodbag baits on bonuses, PT blocking some of the bonuses like the great people they are, and three days of my life gone into organizing and managing this with the help of a whole lot of other Pacificans. Was great work from everyone top-to-bottom; having everyone contribute to making sure we didn't bleed (too much) score during downtimes, calling out times to chain and slip away. Felt a bit like a boxing match with all the ducking and dodging we did when shaz was online.

Was fun. Looking forward to another war like that... sometime in the future and definitely not in the next couple of weeks.

Part of our absolute dedication to winning this war despite the overall expenses (I think we're supposed to say that the merc bill is now 12b) came from multiple factors, including our ability being challenged at the very start, sheer stubbornness that a winnable war was in front of us and throwing it would be a waste, and of course because my favorite Torn person KOBK insisted we would win and I would never let him down.

Of course, it was also advised to us to group attack Shaz1, but we may have skipped that part. That's a lot of e, med cooldown, and grief for one person when their other big guys could just pick us off one by one while we struggled for ages with their stat beast.

Thanks for the fight, SCC. If it was a massive turtlefest on both sides, it was an educational one on things we need to improve upon if we plan to keep chilling in Platinum and now we can spend some time before our next war preparing to change up the things we feel we did less than perfectly. Every war is an education for how to improve, and I hope you guys took as much out of this as we did. Dodging your 1k bonuses was a harrowing experience for sure.

Better luck with your next opponent for what seems to be a quest to Diamond!

Also, we loved the "dead to me" role you guys added. That was too funny. Please don't ever delete that role.

Meanwhile, their thirtieth biggest guy would be eightysecond biggest in our family. Our thirtieth would be eighteenth in their faction.

It turns out that having accurate information is useful, instead of just assuming you're way bigger and better.

From a merc perspective.

I can't begin to accurately express the level of bewilderment we had when SCC were about 5 hits away from a 1k and we realised it they stretched those to 10min they would have had a 7 target window to land said bonus...

Only to suddenly make 4 hits and only have... 1 target to land the bonus on...

And then do that precise same thing several hours later.

If this was really how the initial exchanges went between both sides, it speaks a lot about SCC's leadership. Completely underestimated NPO and threatened us with mercs for just trying to fight?

Also, funny how shaz1 gets brought up here. SCC's leadership clearly relies too much on Shaz1 to do everything. From the start to end. I sure hope he's getting paid well for all his efforts, lost sleep, and 'very competent' decision making from the top.

Can't say I was a huge believer going into the fight, but I'll echo what I said on our last match; tight nit group and very well organised, if anyone would pull off such a feat it would be you guys!
