In my experience (and the majority of female experiences,) it's always men who are talking shit about women behind the women's backs. And women don't gossip about men, as often as men gossip about/talk shit about women.

In fact, I can count on 1 hand how many times I've been backstabbed by females. Literally almost 0, in my entire life. Meanwhile, I can see that I've been betrayed by 30 guy "friends". This is why so many people say Men and Women can't be friends.

Although, I have quite a number of male friends who are wonderful people. They are the rare minority.

But I know I'm less likely to get randomly shat on, yelled at, or bullied, by females than by males, it's always the males instigating drama.

Perhaps men don't gossip as often about other men. But I guarantee for a fact that men gossip about women a great deal, that's where the term "boys locker room" came from; where the boys are talking shit about women, or leaking his ex's nudes with his "bros", or scheming together to get a female employee fired because they're sexist or believe women shouldn't hold jobs in engineering or construction. They band together and backstab the women. Not really a hard concept when society is mainly super stereotypey and misogynistic culturally, but you're a male so you would never have experienced this for yourself. It's all rooted in males gossiping about females. Also, in cases of assault and victim-blaming, men would sooner believe another man that he doesn't know, over a woman that he actually knows, which is why a lot of victims don't speak out or report anything. Men being more straightforward is completely false. Women are more straightforward. Men just lie about being straightforward.

Both are false, anyone is capable of anything. Stereotyping is wrong both ways.
