Put more effort into building a better faction community, you will gain more long term friends that way
What yolo said, you can meet friends on the forums occasionally but you'll be better off either building up a good faction or joining an already existing one.
Finding people on the forum can be very hit or miss, some are nice, others are spiteful. Also doing it this way you're probably going to get people sticking bounties on you for the hell of it.
